Good Morning,
If someone has access to the 1860 Census for Taylor County; could you "PLEASE" lookup the following for me:

Taylor County: Pruntytown P.O. - page 605
J.W. Forthman

I am hoping this will break my brickwall.

Thank You for your time,
Janet

Hi, Janet

Jacob is my GGGrandfather. His daughter, Mary Emma married Evan James Sigler, Jr. They had 5 children among whom was my grandfather, John William Sigler.

The 1900 Federal Census lists Jacob as living with his son (John) William (head of household) in Piedmont,Mineral,WV. Also living w/William was his sister, Laura (Johnson) and her two boys, William and Charles. William Forthman's birth is listed as Jan 1850, Laura's as Jun 1852, her boys as Feb 1879 and Aug 1881 respectively. Jacob's birth is listed as March 1823 in Germany, a 3 or 4 year difference from other censuses.

I hope this helps you a bit.

Tom

There is also a record of a Jacob Forthman coming into the port of Philadelphia in 1845 but I haven't seen the actual record and haven't been able to make a determination as to whether he is our Jacob yet.

Merry Christmas Tom,

PLEASE contact me directly at:
janetgray@zoominternet.net

I will give you the snail address of two "Forthman" relatives who have done extensive work on the family and hold yearly reunions.

Thanks for replying,
Janet
