PEARL McFARLAND
Pearl Harper McFARLAND, 85, of RR 1, Cairo, WV, died Friday, Apr. 9,1999, in
Parkersburg, WV.
She was born Aug. 22, 1913, in St. Marys, WV, a daughter of the late Joseph A. and
Sarah F. Boley Scadden. She was a retired home health care worker for 20 years, a
former member of the Rebekah Lodge of Glendale, a former member of the Glendale
Homemakers Club, a former member of the Glendale Senior Citizens, and a member of
the Harrisville Baptist Church.
Surviving are a son, Fay H. Harper of Cairo (Nutter Farm Community); two daughters,
Jennie L. Varner of Cairo (Nutter Farm Community) and Charlotte Jackson of RR 1
(Glendale Community), St. Marys; three stepchildren, Dortha M. Fleak and Glen A.
McFarland, both of Columbus, OH, and Opal M. Hardman of Clarksburg, WV; two
brothers, Paul and Joseph Scadden, and two sisters, Gladys Paynter and Glady Bailey,
all of St. Marys; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her first husband, Earl O. Harper; her second husband,
William A. "Mac" McFarland; a son, Wilmer Harper; a brother, Jim Scadden; four
sisters, Emma Giboney, Minnie Winiand, Hettie Moore and Nellie Pryor; and a
grandson, Bobby Harper.
Services were held at McCullough-Rogers Funeral Home, Pennsboro, WV, with Pastor
Robert Perine officiating. Burial followed in the Terry Cemetery, near Glendale.
