I am the great-grandson of William McPeck. He was indeed one of the soldiers who carried Abraham Lincoln's body from Ford's Theatre in April 1865. There is a copy of his enlistment papers at the Lincoln Museum in DC located within Ford's Theatre. A detailed article can be found in the February 12, 1956 Pittsburgh Press (now defunct but you can probably find a copy at any Carnegie Library or by contacting the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette).
His grave is located 4 miles outside of Masontown, WV at the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. If you go to Masontown, ask at the Post office. Or you can call me at 412-260-5502. I was just down there a few days ago and took some pictures of the grave. His daughter's name was Pleasie McPeck, who married a Titus, a "Doc" Titchnell and a Roy Anthon, not necessarily in that order. I do have a photo of his gravestone/site that I can upload and email to you.
Yours,
George E. Titchnell
