I'm having trouble finding a birth record and since moving to Texas, I'm not able to get to WV to look things up myself anymore. If anyone is going to be at the courthouse and wouldn't mind doing me a favor, I'm trying to find birth details for the following individual:

Harvey Garfield Booher
Born 06/02/1880, +/- 1y.
Mother probably Delilah Booher.
Father unknown and I'm dying to know who he was.
Last name could be spelled Booker.

I'd like to know date of birth, birth certificate number and any details about parents.

William Curtis Rolston died November 14, 1925 in St. Mary's. According to his death certificate, William was buried November 17th in Willen Cemetery. No such cemetery appears in Pleasants county or perhaps it has changed names since his death.

I found the marriage record for the subject but I can't fit them
into Pleasants County families.

The 1900 Pleasants County Census shows Okey & Anna T. as newleyweds with no children. Okey has his birth date stated as March 1880. I don't see him in the 1880 birth record. WHO WERE HIS PARENTS?

Anna T. Cunningham's birthdate is given as April, 1882.
I can't find any more on her. WHO WERE HER PARENTS?

DID ANNA T. CUNNINGHAM DIE IN PLEASANTS COUNTY BEFORE 1910? I found what looks like OKEY C. S. Bailey in Akron, Summit County, OH in the 1920 Census:

He married Mary J. Bailey 27 Oct 1848. They had the following children: John R.- 1845 mrried Sarah Marston, Franklin Pierce-1852 married Ella Dunn,
Huldah-1851, Greenberry Alexander-1855, Harriett R.-1857, Mary E.-1859, William-1859 married Mary Plum, then Rhoda Coss, Martha-1862, James-1866, and Rose-1868.

Most of the family stayed in Pleasants County, but some moved up river to Columbiana County in the Wellsville, Oh area. Would like any info about Thomas and Mary and any of their children.

I am a descendant of Isaac Davis (born 1805 in Monongalia Co., VA/WV; son of Luranah Hudson and Daniel Davis) and his wife Margaret E. Rice or Margaret E. John. Margaret John Rice was married presumably to a Joseph Rice prior to her marriage to Isaac Davis on August 1, 1850 in Monongalia Co., VA/WV. I am looking for information about Margaret John Rice and Joseph Rice's children, who were step-children of Isaac Davis and who were probably born in Monongalia Co., WV or Greene Co., PA. Some of these Rice children lived in Pleasants Co., WV after their mother married Isaac Davis. There names are believed to be as follows:

2.) John Rice, born unknown

3.) Manerva/Minerva Rice, born unknown

I have some information on Joseph Rice who married Mary E. Hart, but I would like to know more about what happened to the other Rice children. Where did they live? Who did they marry? Some of these children were living with Isaac Davis and Margaret Rice during the 1860 Pleasants Co., VA/WV Census but after that they seem to disappear. Could someone provide some insight about this family???

Also, who was the Andrew Rice (born ca 1850) who was married to Sophrona Unknown and who appears in the Pleasants Co., WV Census records??? Was Andrew Rice related to Margaret John Rice and her children????

Fairview cemetery

I lived on Federal Ridge until 1964 then I moved to Michigan. I was reading about cemeteries found Fairview cemetery but can't seem to recall where it is. I lived on the Little farm (John Coxs owns now) I saw the picture with what looks like a porch of a house in the corner but still couldn't figure out where this is. Key points that I'm aware of now are Jackson Hall school, Mt. Pleasant, Charlie Higgins, Frances Davis, Joe Cross, and Bill Jewell places. From these locations tell me where it would be.
Just some remembering for this time and reading that is very interesting I like the work that has been done keep it up. Thank You

I remember hearing that my grandmother lived in Cow Creek. Is this in Grant District? That's where I find them in the census. Does anyone have any information about the marriage of Harley Bernard Hemsworth to Mary A. (unknown), the date of his death and place of burial? He was born in Hebron (Pleasants County) on January 9, 1895, the son of Albert C. Hemsworth and Zilah (Zellie) Givens Hemsworth, the daughter of Andrew and Ann Edwards Givens. After Zellie's death in 1899 and his father's remarriage in 1901, Harley lived with his father in Pennsboro (Ritchie County) until sometime before 1930 when he returned to Hebron. He apparently lived with his aunt, Rachel Ann Givens Edwards, widow of Jacob Edwards (no relation to Rachel's mother's family), until his marriage. His connection to me is that of 3rd cousin. He was born sometime between 1931 and 1933. Around Denton or Breckenridge,Texas. Someone sent me information in 2006 on a Robert Lyn McPherson born on 12-28-1931.I have not been able to come up with anything. Maybe a child or sister could be out there. Any information would be a help.My farther and his mother were not married. I feel that she married and geve her new husband's name to him. That is where the McPherson came into play. Looking for information about burial sites of Givens' children

I am looking for the burial sites of two Givens'children who were born and died after the 1880 Census. One is simply identified in a birth index as P. Givens--born in 1881 but gender not mentioned. The child is not in the 1900 Census so might have lived for some time. Another child, Myrtle, was born in 1888 and died in 1888 at the age of seven months. A third child, Boss who was born in 1879, appears in the 1880 Census but not in the 1900 Census. His burial site is also unknown. They were the children of James Hineman and Marinda Ellen Givens who lived in Lafayette District between 1873 and the late 1890s. I am wondering if they were buried on private property rather than in a cemetery. They were my grandfather's (Wes Givens) siblings. My e-mail address is rgivens@ma.rr.com. Rosa Richards Cross is found (age30) as a servant in the home of Frederick Arn in the 1900 census in Pleasants Co, Union Dist. She is widowed. Her husband was Benjamin Franklin Cross who died in 1897. They both came from Ritchie Co, WVA. After the 1900 census she disappears as do the Frederick Arn Household. What happended to Rosa?? Did she marry in Pleasants Co, WVA and if so who did she marry?? She was born in 1869, so if she died where is she buried. Thanks for any help you can be!!!

Can anybody tell me the names of the children of Coonrod (Conrad) and Mary Clovis? Beside my ggrandmother Levinia Clovis that married Charles Coss. They are buried at Hebron Cemetery in Pleasant County. Coonrad was 81 when he died in 3/21/1870. MARY was 83 when she died 3/26/1872.

I am looking for the death/burial information for my gr-grandfather, Clayton Steed, DOB: 19 Dec 1859, Thomas Run, Pleasants, WV, USA m. Nancy Agnes Brewer.

His will was probated on 26 Sep 1918, but based upon death in a Railroad Wreck on the B & O [prob. File Number 431
], he likely died on 22 May 1917, near Irving (?), Harrison, WV, USA [Perhaps Tunnel #10?]. I have been unable to find his death or burial so far in Tyler, Pleasants, Harrison or even Barbour County[site of other wreck]. Railroad employee information does not appear to have survived.

Any help would be appreciated-thanks;

When going thru my father-in-law's home, I came across a Soliders New Testament issued during WWII.
There is a name of Homer or a Willard Pollard from Raven Rock, Wv.A base hospital in Camp Upton, NY has an address that is hard to read. I thought that maybe someone who was family might want it. It is kind of falling apart at the front. If so, you can send me a message. No date in it, but I figured it to be about 88 years old.

Is there anyone living near this cemetery who may be willing to take photos of two markers and email them to me? My husband had a stroke in May and I take care of my 4 grandkids everyday so I haven't been able to get down there and I am trying to compile photos and info for our family reunion.

The markers are on the graves of my 3rd grgrandparents John Weston Oliver, 27 Mar. 1839 - 21 Dec. 1908 (Civil War vet) and Lydia Margaret Cameron Oliver his wife. This family originally came from Washington County Ohio.

Western Hobbs Brown buried at Leon, West Virginia

While attending the graves this Memorial Day of my grandparents and their little son, Jerome Davidson Williamson, who died in 1922, I noticed another tombstone in the same vacanity--whose name was Western Brown. This was not a name that I was familar with. So I looked it up in the West Virginia Culture website. There it was--Western Hobbs Brown, born in Washington District, Pleasants, West Virginia. On the death certificate it says that Western Brown was a School Teacher and that his mother's name was Nancy Hobbs. His father was William Brown. He was married at the time of his death July 28, 1922 . We would assume it was to Margie M. as listed on the census. Western died of Heart Disease according to the DC. He had a daughter, Nancy, born in 1890, Joanna, born in 1897, daughter, Letha A., Born in 1899. This was the 1900 census record for Pleasants County. They had a boarder, James Rake. An 1880 census shows Western H. Brown at age 13 living at home. His father and mother are as listed above. He had two sisters and three brothers. I was curious as to how a school teacher would come to the Leon area--situated on the Kanawha River. Perhaps there are members of the Brown family who may have looked for Western Brown's burial site. Well, all of this information is for free.

I have been told that James William Colvin met his future wife, Jemima Isabelle "Belle" Winland, when he started searching for his mother. His mother had remarried a Winland. Then their daughter Clarissa "Clara" married Benjamin McClelean"Clell" Winland.

Then their grandson Lewis Colvin married Helen Moore, who is the daughter of Jacob and Eliza "Belle" Winland Moore.
