The writer of the will of Jacob Conrad Sr. was one of the witnesses, Ulrich Conrad Sr. In the original German will of Jacob Conrad Sr., found in the probate records of Augusta County, every occurrence of the name “Conrad” in the text of the will is spelled as “Kunrad.” Jacob signed his name “Jacob Conrad” and Ulrich signed “Kunrad.” A comparison of earlier exemplars of Ulrich's signature and its traits is consistent with his signature on the will and also letters found in other words in the will. The original German language will is available on CD 3 as a part of a collection of documents from Augusta County, VA which would be of interest to Pendleton County, WV researchers.
