Hi Patty,So good to hear from you! I'll help in any way I can! I've looked at the Chloe and Charles family, but found they aren't the parents of my ggrand, William H. because know he died 2 Mar 1913 in Pleasant City, Guernsey, Oh.  Lois Miller, president of the Mercer County Historical Society has been very helpful and when I thought Charles and Chloe might be his parents she sent me info she found on Charles:

His name was also listed as Crawforces on at least one record, and she found his middle name to be Alexander. he was b either 1816 or 1817 in Mercer Co and married Chloe 1841 and died 20 Feb 1860 Princeton, Mercer, WV with pneumonia. He was a blacksmith and in 1857 and "he patroled and visited all slave quarters weekly" It's possible he might have been one of Zachariah's 10 children. I also, have found an Alexander Crawford on Augusta Co Tax record index for 1790. I'll forward Lois email in case you can glean anything else. I joined the Mercer County Historical society and whe has been helpful.

I'll keep looking!!!! and I'd appreciate any info youo come across on my William!   My William H was b Dec 1845 in Mecer Co VA, joined the Union Army's 5th Ohio Volunteer Cavalry (OVC, 5th regiment, company M as a Private in Feb 1865 in Chester, Meigs Ohio. I have sourced info on him from his NARA papers and have been to his grave in Valley Cemetery in Pleasant City, Guernsey Ohio and know he died 2 Mar 1913 of Labor related pneumonia from his death record signed by his son Thomas E. I've ruled out Charles and Chloe, and David H and Mariah and Sarah and James and George and Maria Crawford as his parents and don't know when he left WVA for Ohio. I believe he's part of the Zachariah and Jane Crawford family because, by 1870, Wm and first wife Mary E Lovett with daughters Sarah and Mattie are in Sutton, Meigs Co., Oh as are Zach's widow Jane with daughter Harriet Crawford Thomas's family and John B Crawford and his family. These folks also lived in Mercer County till Zacharaih died in 1867. There arer 2 Williams on 1860 Mercer Co, VA census. one 16, son of Chloe and one 15 "serving " with Rueben (age 29) and his wife Margaret(age 22) and their 2 small sons Thomas Z (1) and George (1 mo.)Really still hoping to prove that these are 2 different Williams on this census and that the 15 yr old is mine!!! I'm now going to try to use the site to find Thomas and Elizabeth's marriage in 1850.
