Janice, saw your post. George is right, the County Courthouse downtown, is a great source. I was in WVA during Easter break with my daughter. She's ten and I thought she would be bored stiff; but when I showed her what to look for, she had much fun. She even tried to lift those big books! We found lots of info. I even got copies of marriage certificates for family I didn't expect to find (because I wasn't looking for them at the time!). The ladies working there, were also a big help when I had questions.
