Delores M. Gillum, 74, church soloist
Warren - Delores M. Gillum (nee Carrie), 74, of Warren, formerly of Lorain, died Friday, April 28, 2000, at Horizon Village Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Warren, following a brief illness. She was born May 27, 1925, in Peck's Mill, W.V., and moved to Lorain in 1958 from Dearborn, Mich. She lived in Warren since February. Mrs. Gillum was a member of The Church of God of Prophecy in Vermilion, where she was active in the choir and was a soloist. She also enjoyed playing the guitar. Survivors include daughters Regina S. Gilliam of Lorain and Mary Merrel of Warren; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; brothers Bud and Bill, both of Gary, Ind.; and sister, Pearl Chanie of Houston. She was preceded in death by her husband, Cleo, in 1994, and a son, Charles, in 1998. Friends may call Sunday 7 to 9 p.m. at the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Ave., Lorain, where services will be at 7 p.m. with the Rev. Joy Newberry, pastor of The Church of God of Prophecy, Vermilion, officiating. Burial will follow a committal service Monday at 1 p.m. in Oakwood Cemetery, Bucyrus.
