I know this is old but I am hoping for a response. I noticed a listing of more children than I am aware of.
I’m not related to any member of this family.

1940 is the last available census at this time.

West Virginia - Birth, Marriage & Death records = FREE site
http://www.wvculture.org/vrr/va_select.aspx

OH Vital Records -
Prior to September 7, 1949, marriages were record at the county probate courts as each county was formed. At that time, an index of all Ohio marriages was not maintained. It was not until 1949, that a statewide index of marriages that occurred in Ohio was created at the state level with the Ohio Department of Health, Office of Vital Statistics. While the state Office of Vital Statistics maintains indexes of all marriages, the county probate courts where the married couples applied for their license is where the official marriage certificate resides.

Ohio law established the Bureau of Vital Statistics on December 20, 1908. On that date, the mandatory registration of birth and death certificates occurred. Since that time, all birth and death certificates have been registered through our office.

WV Vital Records -
It follows from Virginia, who didn't require counties to keep births and deaths until 1853.

WVA Statehood
West Virginia is one of two American states formed during the American Civil War (1861–1865), along with Nevada, and is the only state to form by seceding from a Confederate state.

So, technically speaking, Sarah M. It indicates that he is buried here at the hospital, and based on the DOD, he would be located in the second cemetery. There are a total of 9 stones in this one, and unfortunately, his is not one of them.

First, thanks so much for taking the time to answer my query.

I have noticed that Andrew would be quite elderly when Matilda was born. There is quite a bit out there, relatively speaking, about Andrew Wilson since he was one of the original settlers in Ireland, WV.

visitsouth.com has an article that mentions him which says he emigrated from Ireland in the early 1800's, purchased 600 acres of land and "started a family." It goes on to note that he died at the age of 114 shortly after voting for President Polk, which would put this death about 1844 I believe.

angelfire.com has a mention of him too in relation to the festival held in Ireland, WV. There is a mention of him buying 600 acres of land with John G Wilson. Andrew and "his wife Elizabeth" sold some land in 1813 and 1839. This article says one of Andrew's children was Matilda E. Wilson, who married Michael Kelly. (I found the Kelly family in the 1850, 1860, 1870 and 1880 census for Lewis Co. WV.) I've noted that sometimes Kelly was spelled Kiley. The 1880 census has Matilda saying she was born in PA. Prior censuses say VA or PA. I did find an Andrew Wilson arriving in PA in 1813. Is it my Andrew? Don't know since the index gives little information.

Some of the Andrew Wilson info supplied above was repeated in an internet posting which cited this source: History of Ireland, WV by Louis Moore Wilson Sept. 2003.

I also found an internet query asking about Andrew Wilson who died in Lewis Co. WV at 114. The query says Andrew, his wife Elizabeth and "brother" John G. Wilson emigrated from County Meath, Ireland about 1800.

I am aware of a record in MD that says Andrew Wilson and Elisabeth Cook had a son John about the time my John was born but I don't think they are the same people since all my other sources say Andrew Wilson emigrated from Ireland in the early 1800's.

I am pretty sure the evidence shows that John G. Wilson of Braxton County is the same as John G. Wilson of Lewis County, which means John is a close relative of Andrew (since they bought land together.)

Where in Ireland was your Andrew born? On his wife Elizabeth, I came across an article on a descendant of Andrew, Milton Frame. The article, written in 2009, says that Andrew's wife Elizabeth was also a Wilson and of English descent. This article is the source for my belief that ndrew and Elizabeth Wilson had a daughter named Elizabeth. The article says Elizabeth, the daughter, was born in Lewis County, WV and that her father was Andrew Wilson who was of Irish birth.

Any thoughts or ideas on all this? I sure could use another point of view on all this information. Am I missing something?

The Andrew Wilson I have in my records was b. 1729 Ireland and m. Elizabeth Graham in 1777 MD. so the John G. Wilson would not have been a brother to Andrew but rather a son or nephew. I only have one daughter Matilda for Andrew & Elizabeth no sons.
Also the census records has John G. Wilson b. in VA not Ireland. Possible mistake in location is Andrew d. in Ireland, Lewis Co., VA.
I also find that at 81 Andrew would be fathering Matilda if she was really b. 1810
I do not find Matilda & Michael in the Lewis Co. 1850 or 1860 census records I have.

This is the only Pleasant Hill Cemetery I found listed in the HCPD cemetery books and is not in Jane Lew area. Who are you looking for I will check and see if they are listed in the below cemetery.

Directions to this cemetery, from Sutton, Braxton County, WV, travel northeast on US Route 19 and State Route 4 towards Lewis Co., WV. This will take you through the villages of Heaters, Napier, past the headwaters of Burnsville Lake (Little Kanawha River), Bulltown Camping area (on the left). About 1 mile beyond the camping area is a small parking/fishing area (Falls Mills) on the right, on the Pleasant Hills Road (county 24) which is to the right of US 19. Cemetery is opposite the Pleasant Hill Church.

Hi, Bethany. One of my relatives, Fanny Besant Shock was a pateint at the Weston State Hospital, where she died in 1920. Any informationn regrding her time there, and the site of her burial, would be greatly appreciated. I live in Australia, and am finding it impossible to locate any inforation on why she was admitted to Weston from Rowelsburg, by whom, and her length of stay. I'd greatly appreciate any help you could give me. Thank you so very much for your assistance. Regards, Midge

A possibility....found an Ora Marie Taylor who was born in 1884 that married Jacob Agostino Maddelena ( born in Italy) in Brooke Co. WV 23 June 1909. They were both from East Liverpool, Oh just across the river. She may have gone up there for work in the extensive pottery industry, as did some of my family.

Probably not related to your people. I just like to help out on the Jackson and Lewis Co. gen-boards. I'm solidly related to a lot of Lewis Co. lines e.g. McWhorter, Stalnaker, Sleeth, Hughes, Carpenter, Radcliff, Hurst, Sims, , Truby, and so on. My wife is a Lewis Co. girl from Corkrean, Matish, Ward Reger, Radabaugh, Siron ,Ziegler. We just got back from the big McWhorter reunion in Lewis Co.

I'm still looking for Ora.

In the 1900 census she was listed as the 16 daughter of Powhatan. Have found no death or marriage certificate in the WV system. Forda ( Fordy) is still at home in the 1910 census. Will continue looking. jimfletcher47@hotmail.com

I don't guess I am related to the TYSONs. I did wonder though. My mother is buried in the same cemetery that Fred and his wife are buried. Since the 1940 census came out I have found a Clarence Lee TYSON with a wife named Laura in Cumberland Co. It shows Fred and his wife, Dorothy and son Earnest living with them. It seems the family came from Sevier, TN to VA. I also saw the tombstone of the little boy who was hit and killed when he was getting off the school bus. I guess that is why Fred and Dorothy are buried at Mt Zion Baptist Church. I did not find any other TYSONs there. Thanks for your response.

Ruby Talley Smith rubygem3@verizon.net
