Betty and Mr Shockey(ie spelling) thank you so much for all that you do i have family from jackson county, kanawaha county and the surrounding areas, my main interest right now is in my GGG Grandfather Michael Dewitt Clinton in alot of the census reports he went by M D Clinton, i am looking specifically at any land grants he may have had i do know he had alot of land as i have a report of all the land he bought and/or sold. or try to find a will also i am trying to find out who his parents are I have his father listed as Joseph Clinton Jr and mom listed as Emma Schlott but i can not find anything about them. i have his birth date listed as 1818 in Pennsylvania and also as 1822 from NY, I can not seem to trace him back any further, would you have any suggestions or information that i might seem to find.. .I also have found information saying he was in the Malitia and was also known as Capt. M D Clinton. I am also trying to find any information i can on his decendants, children grandchildren ect.. my Grandfather was Hiawatha Lee Clinton b may 5 1918 d Nov 28 1969 who lived and died in West Virginia id also like to see if i can find a death announcement or obit for him as well. thank you so much for your time energy and effort in working on this project for many of us who are on the outside it comes as a great help and a comfort to know that someone else is working to find our roots. keep up the good work
