Can anyone tell me if there is a Milhoan Ridge and Rardin cemetary in Jackson county?

Yes. Milhoan Ridge is in the north west part of the county. It goes east off of State Route 68 about ten miles north of Ravenswood. I think the cemetery is in the same area but not sure as it is one that I have not been to.

the wv cemetary preservation assoc. lists this cemetery {rardin} at 38.9906 N. and 81.7312 W. this would put it around three miles east of sherman , wv on little sandy creek road. sherman is about 3 miles north of ravenswood , wv on route 68. it is 5 or 6 miles south of the milhoan ridge area which Les mentioned. i've been working the jackson co. info pretty hard the last couple of years so i'd be glad to try and find some family info for you. by the way, les shockey is the guru who did a tremendous amount of work on the jackson co. site. if he doesn't know 'em, they ain't dead.

James,
I have a listing of the cemetery, which was done in the fall of 1980. The cemetery is located on Little Sandy Road near the boundary lines of the old Bunner farm and the land of Glen Bates. The cemetery has a fence around it but has not been maintained for years. I only have 16 burial listings, including Rardin, Rardon, Ball, and Heck.

Connie,
I believe my ancestors, John W. Rardon, m to Martha Dewitt are buried at this site. I tried to find it in 1992 and walked someways into it, but could find no gravestones. Do you have a listing that the above were buried there? John died 22 Aug 1869 and Martha 07 May 1877. Would appreciate knowing the other names also, if you would be so kind.

Thanks

Janis

Janis, I have never been to this cemetery, but here is the listing I have:

Rardin Cemetery

Located on the land of Bill Bowers near the boundary line of Charles Stephen's land which is on Claylick Road. This cemetery is in a pine thicket and is not visible from the road but it is near the top of a hill across from the house of Charles Stephens.

Rardin, John W. d. Aug. 22, 1868, aged 76y 8m 25d (s/o John and Hannah (Woodruff) Rardin)

Rardin, Martha d. May 7, 1877, aged 79y 8m 24d (d/o John and Nancy (Culberson) Dewitt)

Rardin, Sarah Ellen d/o J.D. and M.E. Rardin Nov. 10, 1857-Sept 23, 1879

Dougherty, Charlotte wife of Joseph d. Sept. 5, 1872, aged 34y 1m 7d (d/o John W. and Martha (Dewitt) Rardin)

Rardin, Isaac W. d. Jan 18, 1895, aged 26y 9m 28d (s/o John Dewitt and Mary (Bertsch) Rardon)

Davis, William A. May 9, 1867 - Dec. 25, 1896 aged 29y 7m 16d

Davis, Delmert s/o W.A. and C.B. Davis Aug. 1, 1892 - Apr. 10, 189?

Rardin, Cora wife of John Rardin d. Jan 5, 1897, aged 19y 16d (d/o William and Rosa Staats)

Lange, Joseph H. (footmarker with the initials J.H.L. (name was on a list of Civil War veterans said to be buried here)

Janis, this is all I have on the cemetery. According to my birth calendar, John W. Rardin would be born Nov. 27, 1791 and Martha born August 14, 1797. Charlotte Dougherty, daughter would be born July 29, 1838

Hope this helps,
Connie

Hi Melody,
John and Martha Rardon are my G G G G Grandparents. I have quite a bit of information on them that I accumulated several years ago and put aside as I'm not quite up to their generation yet. However I would love to exchange information.
I have their children's names, birth and death dates, etc.
John and Martha's son, Thomas Rardon is my GGG Grandpa -and I have quite a bit on him and the children as he was in the civil war. I then have his son, down through the generations that finally come down to me.
I have someone looking for military records of his(John W.) right now in case he was in the 1812 war - if I find him, I'll share them with you.
Also, his parents were John Rardon (also spelled Raredon and Rardin) married to Hannah Woodruff and the same person is looking for DAR records because he served in the Revolutionary War. His father, I believe, is Dennis Rardin, married to Mary Osborne
I have a little bit on the Woodruffs but nothing on the Osborns or Dewitts.

Janis,

There are two cemeteries in Grant District, Rardin Cemetery, which I listed for you. There is also a Rardon Cemetery. Rardon Cemetery is located on Little Sandy Road on the Glen Bates farm. Rardin Cemetery is located on the land of Bill Bowers. Both cemeteries are small, Rardon Cemetery has about 13 burials, Rardon, Rardin, Ball, and Heck. Do you need the listing for this cemetery. If so, send me an e-mail.

Connie

Hi Cathy

I'm just cruising the messages and came across your on the DeWitt/Rardon's and I don't believe I ever responded to you back in 2005. If you're still out there.... I would be interested in what you have on the DeWitt's. Martha Dewitt married John Rardon, my gggg grandparents. I have almost nothing on othe DeWitts except that I believe her parents were John DeWitt b abt 1765 and Nancy Culbertson.

Would enjoy hearing from you, thanks

Don - you have a great site - nice work. I have the dates for Mary Ann Robinson (daug of Lydia De Witt) if you would like. died May 25, 1885 in Middleport, Ohio. Never found her grave. She is my grandmother's grandmother. Her husband continued to live until 1914.

Any more info about the John Dewitt children is always appreciated.

Do you have any more information about John Dewitt?

I can not figure out his parents, although, I have posted several possibilities on my website.

Thanks

Don DeWitt
