I am searching for information on Peter Jones who married Catherine Ashbook. Their daughter Ruth was born, Sept. 19, 1758 in Hampshire Co., VA, she married John Kimberlin and they were the first settlers in Scott Co., IN in 1807.

Phoebe ASHBROOK {1775-1843} oldest daug. of Levi ASHBROOK & 2nd wife Mary CHENOWETH, Married Thomas W. TUCKER {1765-1775} This TUCKER line is out of Frederick Co. Maryland that became Montgomery Co. in 1776. Either Thomas or his Father also a Thomas, Bought a piece of Hampshire Co. Virginia land in 1791 and Thomas Sr. was living there by 1796. {Son} Thomas W. & wife {10 yrs his Jr.} Phoebe {ASHBROOK} TUCKER migrated West maybe living in OHIO for a few yrs. enroute to ILLINOIS Pike Co. Court records showing Thomas W. TUCKER left Hampshire Co. for INDIANA in 1826 leaving farm equipment & livestock with his son John TUCKER. In that same yr. another son, Levi, & wife Sarah ALSBURY left Cabell Co. W.V. for ILLINOIS. By 1836 all five of their known children {Levi 1794, John 1805, Rachel 1806, Elizabeth 1810, Mahala 1810} were living in either Pike or Sangamon Co. IL. Where Thomas W. dies 1830, wife Phoebe's death is unknown to date, but married in 1843 in Pike Co. IL. to John AIKEN, John AIKEN's was father of Amy Ann AIKENS {who was the Wife of John TUCKER son of Thomas W. & Phoebe} & son Augustus AIKEN & wife Ph{o}ebe Ann ALSBURY d/o Brice Wm. ALSBURY & Rachel TUCKER {granddaug. of Thomas W. & Phoebe TUCKER}. Well as you can see these lines tangle & sometimes can be confusing to follow they marry back & forth.. Have been researching Levi/Mary Pentacost and Levi/Mary Chenoweth since 1980 and have never seen a child named Phoebe . Where has she been hiding all this time? Would like to know where you found her, and did she perhaps go by another name part of the time? (Like Polly is Mary most of the time). Would appreciate your help in putting Phoebe in her proper location..

Hello to everyone who may read this. I am new to the root thing and need all the help I can get.My name is Paul Edward Bosley and I was born in Keyser W.Va. in 1948,my Dad was Paul Augustus Bosley who was born in grant County W.Va. on May 10/1915 and this is all I know. I think my grandpaps name was Gus Bosley or Augustus Bosley from Grant Co. W.Va.My grandpap Gus Bosley married Marion Schell{Shell} in 1914. Please help.

The best thing to do is to find out as much as you can from living relatives, aunts, uncles, etc. about relatives and where they lived. Then go to the census records which are available from 1930 back to the 1700s and are done every ten years. These can often be accessed through your library via a site called Heritage Quest for free. I checked to see if there was a Boseley in Grant County in 1920 and there are two, but your five year old father does not show up, nor is their an Augustus or Gus Bosley listed. This may mean that the census taker spelled the name wrong or various other things. If you cannot find access to Heritage Quest, send me as much info as possible on names, birth dates and where they lived and I will try to get you started. You can also check a variety of sites like GenCircles, Rootsweb, etc and see if anybody has done some of the work for you.
