I'm looking for some information on the Culpeper's Supply Co. that was located in Bayard, WV in the 1900's. My husband found a "Token Good for Trade" with the company and we're intrigued. I haven't come up with anything via internet searches, except for a court document in 1917, I believe, regarding a wrongful death from what I can tell.

I appreciate any info! Thanks! :)

Maynard G. Muntzing 1933-2013

CHILLICOTHE: Maynard G. Muntzing, 79, of Chillicothe, Ohio died, with his children by his side, at 8:05 a.m. Wednesday, January 9, 2013 at his residence following a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born March 12, 1933, in Scherr, WV, to the late William and Virginia Secrest Muntzing.

On December 21, 1955, he married the former Joyce L. Latham who died October 22, 2007.

The communities of Chillicothe, Ross County, Ohio and West Virginia have lost one of their finest.
A loyal husband to his wife Joyce. Born and raised on a small farm in rural West Virginia, he learned the value of a hard days work and the gift of giving back to those around him. Honing his skills in interpersonal relationships began with 4-H and community organizations, then onto attending West Virginia University for his baccalaureate degree and The Ohio State University for his Master's degree.
After serving in the U.S Army came his arrival in Chillicothe, Ohio in 1958 as the Ross County 4-H/ Agricultural Extension Agent.
Starting with a handful of 4-H clubs, Maynard served to make Ross County one of the largest 4-H organizations in the state. Anyone remotely affiliated with 4-H or agriculture came to know Maynard from his radio programs, newspaper columns, on-site visits or stopping by the office to have a question answered.
He was an integral figure in establishing the best 4-H camp in the state as well as a key architect for Ross County Fair's success year after year for over 30 years. Hundreds of cards and letters regaling stories of "O Great Chief" and other experiences from the past have filled the mailbox over the last year as he battled cancer.
They now serve as a memorial that reflect the impact on the lives of the people that he touched - many would bring tears to his eyes as he read each one. Maynard and his family were also intimately affiliated with Walnut Street United Methodist Church, assisting wherever the need arose.

Surviving are his children, Deborah Jo (Geoffrey) Heller, of Hilliard, Ohio, Rachel Ann (Dr. Lawrence) Lynn, of Worthington, Ohio, William Brook (Rev. Karen) Muntzing, of Columbus, Ohio, Florence Eleanor "Fluff" (Brent Alan) Knauff, of Lucasville, Ohio and Maynard Glenn (Tammy) Muntzing, of Kettering, OH; grandchildren, Lauren (Adam) Fromme, Leah and David Lynn, Alexandra and Robert Heller, Sarah Muntzing, Brent Knauff, Nicholas and Erin Muntzing and Brittany and Tyler Erwin; a great grandson, James Fromme; and a sister, Yvonne Muntzing, of Martinsburg, VA; and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

A memorial service will be held 7:30 p.m. Saturday, January 12, 2013 in the Walnut Street United Methodist Church, Chillicothe, with Rev. Scott Smith officiating.
Friends may call at the church from 4 to 7:30 p.m. prior to the memorial service on Saturday.
Arrangements are under the direction of the WARE FUNERAL HOME.

In lieu of flowers, the family request that Memorial Contributions be made to The Ohio State University for the Ross County 4-H Endowment Fund, 475 Western Ave., Suite F, Chillicothe OH 45601.

You may sign his online register at www.warefh.com

Published in the Chillicothe Gazette on January 10, 2013 .

Seeking family of Mary Ann Cosner and Jacob M. Siever

These are not my relatives. However, I would like to find their family members to share information I have about the couple and other people in the community whom they knew in the period 1875-1877.

On their 1877 marriage license, Mary Ann is shown as the daughter of J. Cosner, and Jacob is the son of Moses Siever. The couple migrated to Middle Tennessee and died in Crossville, Cumberland Co., TN.

You can see their tombstone records, beginning at http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=74...

I have been looking for them as well. To add to that list of names is: Sarah Ann Pratt (sister possibly) born 1805 in Virginia, she marries Davis Howard 1837. Welton, Sarah and Davis are all in the will of Jacob. Welton being executor and Sarah and Davis as co-executors. I have been doing this for a short time and have found a couple of family members in the same search as us. But they have had this road block for at lest 10 years. I live in VA and if I had more accurate places to search I would go to the genealogy society in the area to find some kind of info.

I found Malinda's marriage to James Phillips.
One lists James H. Phillips the other lists James K.Phillips but they both said they married June 4, 1864.Malinda's last name was spelled Strawderman and on death record Straudmen.
That was at www.wv.culture.org the marriage
The strange thing her mother was listed as Elizabeth, but on a death record I found it said Barbara.

Frederick Lewis Goldizen was the 2nd son of Johan Philip Goldizen, who was a Hessian soldier. He married Elizaneth Ann Kanester and moved to West Virginia, where they both are buried. Original spelling was Goldeiss. From the Ansbach regiment in the Rev. war.
Frederick L. left WVA about 1815 for Ohio. Don't know where he went from there until about 1825 when he had a son with Mary Levick Morris McAlurath - her 5th child. Married twice before. He died in Parke County, Indiana. Buried there.

Any descendant of John Mallow b 1824 (son of Leonard) on this site?

I'm trying to locate a descendant of John Mallow 1824-1864 (hubby of Eliza Susan Rexrode, son of Leonard Mallow and Elizabeth Hedrick Mallow )who would like to follow-up with documentation I've obtained to have his headstone at Camp Parole, Maryland corrected (the burial site now part of Annapolis National Cemetery). The headstone currently reads CSA (Confederate States of America) but John served in Capt. Alt's Company of Home Guards (Union militia). He was taken prisoner by southern troops in January 1864 in or near Franklin, transported to Richmond (likely incarcerated in "Castle Thunder" - a tobacco processing plant turned prison during the war - with other Pendleton Co. militia taken at or near the same time), then exchanged in March 1864 and taken to Camp Parole where he died on 1 June 1864.

John was a cousin of my ancestor George Mallow (1815-1864) who is also buried at Camp Parole (and I'm currently in the process of having George's headstone located or corrected if under the wrong surname). I came across John's headstone when looking for George's.

I'm more than willing to submit the documentation to have John's headstone corrected but I thought perhaps his descendants might like to participate. I will email the appropriate paperwork to whomever has interest. I will hold the documentation for 30 days to allow his family to contact me.

It can be seen from Rt 50, looking on the South. It rest on the top of the hill about 1/4 mile off the road.

Note! The lane leading from Rt 50 to the cemetery is posted. There are 3 or 4 houses along the lane. Please stop and ask permission to visit. They are nice people. They do a very nice job of keeping up the cemetery. In addition, they can be very helpful with information about their relatives who are buried there. It's only about 1/4 mile back the lane, you can drive right up to the cemetery gate.
Hope this helps!
Laura

There is no obiturary for Edmond. Wife stated in her application for war benefits that there was no obit. It was just written in the bible. I take it that they were without funds as in those days they did not have a funeral home do the burial. And it was a given that the funeral home did the deed of writing the obit to post in the local paper. Another added cost.

The area was often referred to as the South Bend of the
South Branch of the Potomoc. It was probably still HARDY CO VA in 1825.
