My father, John Montgomery Tully, was a Mount Hope friend of George Siems, Jr. By chance, I was looking up George today on Ancestry.com as I had been sorting letters and memorabilia from the home of my late parents. I found a newspaper article from the Beckley Post Herald (not far from Mount Hope) that stated that George's mother was visiting George Jr. and his wife in Baltimore. I didn't remember Daddy talking about George so I was quite surprised to see a letter written during WWII in which Daddy asked his mother to get something very nice for George for Christmas. When I went through my parents' wedding cards, the George Siems (Sr.) had given them $100 to be used toward sterling flatware -- quite a nice gift in 1945. Do you know if George entered the Navy rather late in the war. Daddy was an LST commander at the time he sent the notice to buy a gift for George. George must have still been at home at that time. Good luck.
