Thank you so much for the information about George Siems, Jr. I knew he moved to Baltimore but could never determine whether he married or had children. I guess I need to do some more digging.
The information I have about George's military career shows that he entered the Navy after graduating from WVU in 1942. I came across a 2007 WVU newsletter where a Mr. Thomas W. Howard, also a WVU grad and Mount Hope resident, recalls meeting his friend George Siems on the island of Saipan during the war. George was then a Lieutenant in charge of a "Seabee" unit constructing facilities for US troops on Saipan. Apparently, Mr. Howard embarrassed George in front of his men by called him "Sonny", his childhood nickname.
