Husband's General Notes:
BIRTH: Death certificate states birth date as 31 Jul 1867.
OCCUPATION: Physician and Minister

Ulysses Morton never attended medical school but got a book and studied under Dr. Phil Brown and was a very capable doctor. In about 1912 the state legislature passed a bill that no man could practice medicine without a diploma from a medical school. Jimmy Dorsey who was then sergeant-at-arms in the state Senate explained to the Legislature that the community around Lizemores, WV, would be without a doctor, so the legislature passed a special bill allowing Doc Morton to continue practicing medicine as long as he lived. His tombstone says that he was born in the year 1867. (James B. Dorsey, p. 18)

Wife's General Notes:

CAUSE OF DEATH: Injured in a car accident on Nov. 17, 1952 when her car hit a school bus on a highway in Mason Co., WV. Taken to Holzer Hospital in Ohio. She suffered a fractured sternum which later caused a coronary thrombosis which lead to her death.
