John Burch Sr., 67, company owner
Sheffield Township - John L. Burch Sr., 67, of Sheffield Township, died Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2001, in the emergency room of Community Health Partners, Lorain, following a lengthy illness.
He was born July 19, 1934 in Grantsville, W. Va. He had lived in Lorain since 1951 and had a second home in Phoenix, Ariz.
Burch graduated from Calhoun High School in West Virginia and attended college in Arizonia.
He owned and operated Burch-Craft Construction Co., which he founded in 1968, for 32 years. He had previously been a welding foreman at Fruehauf Trailer, Avon Lake.
Burch was also an ordained minister, was an evangelist for many years, primarily at Bethel Chapel in Lorain. He also traveled for his ministry and served in Arizona.
He enjoyed woodworking and gardening.
Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Emma Jean (nee Craig); sons Johnny Lewis Burch and Lewis Burch, both of Lorain; daughters Angela Reed or (sic) Knoxville, Tenn., and Sherry Cantrell and Jennifer L. Craig, both of Lorain; 14 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; and brothers Woodrow Burch of West Hamlin, W.Va., and Meade Clevenger of Berniesville, Okla. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Eve (nee Metz) Burch; and several brothers and sisters.
Friends may call Thursday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., at Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Ave., Lorain, where services will be Friday at 11 a.m. The Rev. Lorri Bandagski, pastor of Bethel Chapel, will officiate. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery, Lorain.
