Capt. Ward’s Rites Set For Tomorrow

Funeral services for Captain Ira N. "Banty" Ward, 64, of 2502 First Avenue, veteran member of the Huntington Fire Department who died in a local hospital last night after suffering a heart attack earlier, will be conducted at 2 P.M. tomorrow at the Steele Funeral Home. The Rev. W. J. Fox will conduct the services and burial will be in Highland Cemetery. Members of the fire department will serve as pallbearers. Born in Gallia County, Ohio, Captain Ward completed 27 years of service with the department last July and had planned to retire in early January. He would have observed his 65th birthday next month. Yesterday was his day off an Canda station where he had been stationed for some time. Surviving are the widow, Mrs. Grace Ward, a sister, Mrs. Roxie Caldwell of Huntington, and a brother Harry Ward of New Martinsville, W.Va.. The body is at the Steel Funeral Home.
