Rachel Isabel Mulholland was born in Yakima, Yakima County, Washington, 9 Sep 1901. She was the daughter of Olive Helms Mulholland. I am trying to find her father's name. She is a distant relation as her grandfather Reuben Helms and my great grandfather Silas Young Helms were brothers. Her father died before she and her mother moved to California. If I can find his name, I hope to also find his burial records in Yakima County. Isabel married Paul Brey Cramer in Los Angeles and they had no children. For them, it would be nice to have this information for the family tree.

Obits in Yakima County ways to get them

I am a member at the Yakima Genealogical Society. There we have 3x5 index cards and almost full page obits cataloged by last name. Volunteers clip obits from the Yakima newspaper copy them and glue them to the index cards then they are typed with a type writer and placed in the card catalog. I don't know for sure when they started doing this but they have a lot and are adding them all the time. The first week I was there I spent around 5.00 on copies for obits.

Another resource is do a google for the Yakima genealogical society. On the left side there is Tahoma cemetery. Almost every name of everyone burried there is on the list and their location. I do volunteer work taking photographs for people looking for loved ones on findagrave.com sometimes people also post obits on the memorial pages.

If you email me badhabitgsd at Q dot com (replace at for @ and dot for . ) I will do my best to find the obits for you. I try to get down there once a week and attend the monthly potlucks. If you would like an obit mailed to you I would also do that not for profit only to cover postage and copy costs.

I am looking for information on the Fred Noyd family of Yakima Washington. I know he went to school in Montana to be a pharmacist. I have been told he lived in Yakima and that he had a couple of sons. I was also told he died in a car wreck. Fred would have been a first cousin of my grandfather's and I would like to share some great genealogy with his decedents. I would also like to find out more about this branch of my family tree. Thank you, Charles Noyd

I am searching for the family of Four soldiers who was killed in the Korea War. When they entered service they gave Yakima County, Washington as their home of record.

Soldier: CHARLES ALEXANDER BROWN
Born: 1931 Black
Date of loss: November 30, 1050 KIA

Soldier: SAMUEL BLACK POWELL
Born: 1924 Caucasian
Date of loss: July 27, 1950 MIA

Soldier; ROBERT DICKSON SHANKS
Born: 1929 Caucasian
Date of loss: December 1,1950

Soldier: RICHARD WALDAMAR SOLOMAN
Born: 1929 Caucasian
Date of loss: December 1, 1950 POW

When the Korean War ended the enemy never returned or accounted for over 8,000 of our servicemen. They died in their hands. That was over 50 years ago. Since that time DNA has been perfected and also they are recovering remains in North Korea. Our government is obligated to return those remains to the proper family. DNA samples have been obtained from most of the families of these missing soldiers. For various reasons some families have not been located. There are 46 families from Washington that have not been located. There are four families from Yakima County that has not been located.

When the remains are recovered and identified they will be returned to the family for proper burial. I am just an old (76 years) Combat Veteran out of the Korean War and thankful that I did return. I consider this a very noble cause and I hope that you can help in some way to find these families. For more information on the project you may go to http://www.jpac.pacom.mil/. My part in the program is to match up the lost families with the proper agency.

I will be grateful for any assistance in locating these families.

Harold Davis
40th Infantry Division
Korea ’52-‘53
910-791-2333
hgdavis@bellsouth.net
The biographies can be viewed at:

http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~jtenlen/yakima-vall...

The copies I printed are very good quality, and it would be a waste just to dispose of them. I will gladly donate these copies to any Library, Society, or facility that could make use of them.

Hello

I'm hoping someone can find death records or funeral records or the undertaker for "baby GOOD" who is buried in the Zillah cem. Her tombstone is in the "Baby" section and is only marked "baby GOOD 1932". The parents, or date of birth or death and sex are unknown. The burial is listed in the Zillah cemetery records, not in the baby section. My step-grandfather that raised me had a surname of "Good", but i don't know if it was his child.

Online records show Alfred McMahan, 1875 - 1955, and wife Villa McMahan, 1885 - 1965, buried in Zillah City cemetery, Zillah, Yakima Co, WA. I am so excited to find the brother of my Gr Grandfather, Hugh McMahan. I did not realize that he was born the year his mother, Nancy E McMahan, died in Burt Co, NE. Their sister Belle (Isabelle) McMahan Wilkinson died Walla Walla.

Can someone locate death and obits for me and possibly take digital photos and email me at <trublehall@centurytel.net> Mailing address 1405 Hunt Rd, Mayville, MI 48744.

I found them in Wisconsin in 1860 and in Minnesota in 1870 and 1875. Some of the family stayed in Minnesota, others in Washington Co., Oregon. I am given to understand some lived in the Yakima area. My second great grandmother Mary Jane Boyer married John Clapshaw. So, I am looking for cousins.

The Goldendale Sentinel, Goldendale, WA., September 14, 1950, page 1

YAKIMAN TAKES OWN LIFE NEAR LYLE TUESDAY MORNING

Death by suicide and carbon monoxide gas claimed the life of George M. Brown, 60, of 312 S. 9th Ave., Yakima four miles east of Lyle. A hose, brought explicitly for the purpose was found extending from the exhaust pipe through the almost closed back window of the car, it was stated by Sheriff E.C. Kaiser, who was called to the scene.

Brown was discovered by Frank Armstrong of Boise, Idaho at 6 a.m. Sheriff Kaiser and Coroner Thurman Ward were notified a short time later and arrived at the scene about 7:30.

According to reports, the victim had just recovered from a major operation and had lost his mother a short time ago. Two suicide notes were left by his body, both asking forgiveness from his wife and 19 year old daughter.

The suicide was regarded as planned ahead of time because the hose still bore the ticket from the store in Yakima. He is survived by his widow and two children, one 19 and the other two years of age.

The body was brought to Phillips Funeral Home and was claimed by Mrs. Brown that afternoon and later taken to Yakima from where service and burial will be made.

This was posted for reference only. I am not related to, nor am I researching this family. If you have additional information about the family or event mentioned above, please post it as a reply to this message.

Hi you American cousins,
Two of my great uncles emigrated to America from Wexford in Ireland probably around the turn of the Century. I would be interested in contacting anybody who may have any information about the family. I have information re their sister's descendants in England to trade. Their names were JACK SULLIVAN (John Aloysious)(b. 11 July, 1869 d. 29 June 1967) and ROBERT PEARL. Both were originally PARLE and changed their names after arriving in America.

Jack Sullivan's wife was called Gene who had a sister Doris and/or Annie Graham. Robert Pearl's wife was called Beck and they are believed to have had a daughter Gladyce and also maybe one called Alice, who lived in Pineapple Lane, Port Richey, Florida. A great niece of one of them, maybe belonging to one of the wive's is/was called Margaret A Smith from Snohomich, Washington, previously from Seattle.

Neice and nephews of Jack (so presumably on his wife's side) are Barbara Jean Weber Golden living in Campbell, California and nephews Roy Rickey living in Juneau, Alaska and working for Bureau of Fisheries and Robert Rickey of California.

If these names ring any bells with anybody I would be glad to hear from them.
Mary
I am hoping some kind soul can help me. I have hit a brick wall regarding Barbara. I know that she was buried in Tahoma Cemetery May 19 1934. I believe she was living in Aberdeen at the time of her death with her daughter Mary and son-in-law James Brouelette.
I am in great need of her maiden name. So far I have four possibilities, due to poor penmanship on old documents.
Her son Angus was buried in the same cemetery on Dec 17 1916.
If anyone could help I would be very grateful.

Would like to chat with anyone having information on this man because I believe he is related to me through my HENDRICK/Hendrix line. The Luke A. Hardesty I'm searching for was born in 1921 in OK. and probably lived in Oregon at one time with his father JACK HARDESTY, who was considerably older than my great-great aunt ESTER or Easter Hendrick Hardesty. She was born in 1885 in OK. and Luke's father was born in Indiana.
Glynda Ford Ellman

Hello I am looking for info on a man named Lawrence L. Carver who lives in Yakima. I have recently bought a old fly fishing reel and on it is his address, name and army serial number dated 1945. I looked up the A.S.N. and verified that it is him as well as doing a people search to find out that he still lives in Yakima. There is a senior and a junior. If anyone could give me some info to put me in touch with this person that would be great! I would love to talk to him about his fly reel and the stories he may have.....even return the reel to him if he wanted it. Thanks for the help

Mario

I am looking for information on the marriage and divorce of Irma Jane Simonson, my first cousin, once removed. She was born in 1927 and I know her to be married in 1949 so I would guess she was married after 1945. I have no idea when she divirced or possibly was widowed and I do not know the name of her husband,

Thanks,

Bill O'Brien
WObrien861@prodigy.net

Otto Greer Allen was my grandfather's youngest brother. He was born in Jackson county, KS, 24 May 1876. He died in Yakima county, WA, 3 Mar 1943. He is buried in the Zillah cemetery. The 1920 and 1930 census show him in Yakima and the 1930 census shows his wife as Cecilia. He had an older brother, Edward M Allen, who lived in Chelan county, WA according to the 1930 census. I would like to know more about him, his wife and if he had children.

Linda

This has been tricky since the maiden name seems to change on birth records.

Here is what I know;
Her first and middle name were "Mary Olive".
She was born sometime between April 22 and August 25, 1890 (from researching her children's birth records and census records (1920, 1930).
She married Henry Ernest Saunders (he also went by Harry) about 1912. We do not know where they were married.
According to a nationalization record for her husband, he stated his wife was born in Yakima, Washington.

On 1 of her children's birth certificates her maiden name is spelled "Robins". On 2 of her children's birth certificates her maiden name is spelled "Robbins". On 1 of her children's birth certificate her maiden names is spelled "Robinson". We also have a copy of a death record for one of the children, and the spelling also appears as "Robinson".

Does anyone know anything about our Mary Olive?

Would someone be willing to look-up a few family obituaries for me. I am looking for the following individuals:
Henry William Kunz, DOB: 1-24-1887 DOD: 11-16-1973
Alta Hattie Kunz, DOB: 10-9-1891 DOD: 3-6-1959
Herman Harold Kunz, DOB: 11-29-1910 DOD: 11-16-1968
Minnie Marie Kunz Carder, DOB: 3-8-1912 DOD: 10-13-2000
Walter W. Kunz, DOB: 6-27-1914, DOD: 12-14-1971
Ida B. Kunz, DOB: 5-20-1911, DOD: 12-4-2001
Gertrude Lillian Kunz, DOB: 2-21-1921, DOD: 10-4-1939
Henry William Kunz, DOB: 9-4-1924, DOD: 6-11-1994

I believe most of these obituaries would have been published in the Yakima Herald Republic. I am unable to open PDF files due to a hole in the software even using the newest version of Adobe Acrobat Reader, I am hoping this will not inconvenience anyone. Thanks, Margaret Langenberg

ATCHISON & REUBEN BAIR: N. Yakima,WA (GLEED,too):

Searching for information on the families of Reuben Bair and of Atchison Bair, both living in north Yakima county, WA. I found their families listed in the 1910 Census for Yakima county, but couldn't find any further data. I also found a few photos in the county archives. Atchison Bair married an Allie Belle GLEED; I believe that they had met in Kansas, where Allie Belle was born, and then later moved on to Washington state, where their two daughters were born. Atchison is also the uncle to Reuben Bair, whose family is also found in the census records. I live in Washington state myself, but my family line is from PA and KS mainly. I would appreciate anyone who can look into recent census records, land records, etc., as I don't have the means to do so. Thank You!

Looking for Laura Evans

My last post include the name Laura Evans Culbertson. I am not sure that is correct. I have been contacted by someone in Yakima and they did know her as Laura Evans and she is related to Jasper & Belle Evans. She apparently is not working where she was and may have left the Yakima area. If anyone knows her, we'd love to hear from you. Thanks
