Howell Family in WA/ Idaho
I’m trying to find out about the family of Henry Howell
last found in the Whitman County Washington (Farmington)
in 1880-1890. Henry was born in Tennessee about 1834
and his wife, Margaret was born in Missouri about 1840.
Most of their children were born in Oregon it appears. Their
children in the 1880 census are:
Sarah E. 16, Mary 14, William 10, Annie 8, Charley 4, and Eveline 2.
There is a Charles Howell found in Latah Co. Idaho (also Farmington)
in 1910, 1920 & 1930 that fits this Charley. Is this the same place
that got annexed into Idaho when it became a state?
I believe Henry may be the same one that left Knox Co. TN around 1860.
He may have stayed awhile in Missouri with his sister, Harriet Howell
Maloch and family before moving Westward. The censuses indicate his
wife was born in Missouri, so he may have met her there, or her parents
(also from TN) may have been one of several Knox Co. families to move
there. Is anyone familiar with this Howell family?
