William Christopher Walker and Mariah Seleste Stover-1901

I am looking for information on the death of Mariah Seleste Stover WALKER in 1901. The cabin in which they were living exploded while they were drying out dynamite in the stove. (I know it sounds crazy, but that is the story that was published in the local Dahlonega, Georgia paper.) William C. "Bill" Walker is the brother to my great grandfather. The incident happened in Bush Prairie. Anyone have any suggestions as to how I might find more information?

I was wondering if anyone could help me look up Dewoody and Emma Jones. They were living in Olympia with their daughter and son-in-law Ethel and William Sherman in 1910. I believe that Dewoody may have passed away before 1920 as Emma is listed as being a window. They had five children, one of whom, Sheridan Jones, passed away in 1980, although I do not know where.

I was looking for the obit of a Estella Eliza (Spiker) Newcomer. Not sure if this is who I think it is but needed to look at the obit. There was an Estella Eliza Shugart who lived in Wyoming and perhaps she remarried in Washington to a Newcomer.

She was born on Feb 28, 1884 and died on July 31, 1970 in Olympia Washington.

June 26,1920. She did not receive a first name until Feb of 1921.It was not recorded until August.She is not listed in the census for any relatives.Father was Alvin C Huston, Mother was Pearl Leonard, Grandparents Edwin and Ollie Huston.Lived in Thurston and Lewis Counties.(mostly Centralia)I am wondering if she was sent to a poorhouse,baby home, etc. Were there any and how do I search them. I am lost. All help is appreciated.

Does any one have access to the Yelm, Thurston Co., WA papers in 1900-1909. Believe there were some stories about a John Nordmeyer, owner of a Mill[probably dealing with wood] who left and it was sold at a sheriff's sale.

Seeking info on Polly (Sanford) Mosher, who was born 23 Aug 1905. She left Bucoda, Thurston Co.,WA after the 1920 census to move to New York City, where she met and married Robert Bodine Mosher 24 Feb 1828. In 1946 she is listed in her Mother-in-law's will as living in Baltimore, MD. Polly's husband had died in 1944 in Boston, MA. Polly's parents were Edward N. Sanford and Frank (Frances) Nicols Garland Sanford of Bucoda,WA. Her siblings were Edward N. Sanford Jr., Harriet Jane Sanford and Jerome Garland Sanford. I am hoping to connect with descendants of her siblings who know when and where Aunt Polly died! Did Polly have any children?

I am looking for an obit for Annie C.[Ann or Anne or Anna] EDWARDS [Widow of John F. EDWARDS; John F. died in 1916.]

Annie was born 1849 in Pennsylvania, after John F. died she lived with her daughter Eva[EDWARDS]ERICKSON. In the 1920 census she was living with Eva, but is not there in the 1930 census. I am guessing that she died in the years between the censuses.

I am also looking for an obit for Robert Edwards, son of John and Annie EDWARDS. Robert was a mason, who disappears between the 1910 and 1920 censuses[Thurston County]. Perhaps he died sometime between censuses as I can't find him in the 1920 census. Robert was born in January of 1879 in Iowa.

I am also looking for an obit for Andrew ERICKSON husband of Eva, I think he died in April 1922.

I am also looking for an obit for Everett J. ERICKSON, son
of Eva. He was born Oct. 24 1916 in Washington and he died Oct. 1 1987 in King County; since he grew up in the Olympia area I am hoping there is an obit in the Olympia paper.

Frank Sires of Olympia, Washington, died Tuesday, September 22, 1970, in an Olympia nursing home.

Born November 4, 1879, in Allamakee county, Iowa, he was a blacksmith and an interior and exterior decorator.

In 1908 Mr. Sires homesteaded in Canada 25 miles from Brownlee, Saskatchewan. In 1925 he moved to Yakima, Washington, and the following year moved to College Place, Washington. He moved to Olympia in 1945. He was a Seventh Day Adventist.

He is survived by his wife, Alice (Davis) of Olympia; three daughters, Mrs. Beaulah Rogers of Sebastopol, California; Mrs. Celia McKeown of Molalla, Oregon; and Mrs. Miletus Ziarko of Glendale, California; two half brothers, Roy Sires of Hawkeye, Iowa; and Dan Sires of New Albin, Iowa; two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

The funeral service will be held this Friday starting at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Lacey Funeral Home. K. Eldon Baker, pastor of the Seventh Day Adventist church will officiate with burial following in Masonic Memorial Park.

I need some help in locating burial spots for Lorenzo P. Sheldon who passed away September 16, 1927. His death certificate states burial in Bigelow Cemetery. Mrs. Sheldon died August 13, 1909 and the newspaper states she was buried in Forest Cemetery. I wrote a letter to the Mills & Mills Funeral Home there in Tumwater asking for information some time ago, they have not responded. Mr. & Mrs. Sheldon had an unmarried daughter, Alma, she apparently passed away between 1909 and 1927 but I have no further information on her. Would there be cemetery records available at a genealogical society? A niece, Eleanor S. (nee Pattee) Hall was the informant on Mr. Sheldon's death certificate, I would like to find information on her also.

I am looking for any information on James D. MONK, who was born about 1853 in Alabama. His sisters, Kate Monk COWLES (wife of Augustus B. Cowles) and Annie Monk SHOECRAFT (wife of R.P. Shoecraft) were both living in Olympia WA at the time of the 1880 Census, having moved there from MN sometime after 1870. I can find no reference to James after the 1870 census, when he was living with his sisters in MN, but suspect that he would have moved to WA with them if he was still alive at that time. Thanks to the hard work of someone or many ones who took the time to walk Forest Grove Cemetery and write down the tombstone inscriptions, I have found two relatives who were for many years brick walls. Jeremiah K Smith came from Livingston County, New York. The birthdate on his stone matches that of my bible records exactly. Jesse Smiths birthdate is not the same, but I found his Civil War pension application and the birth year matches. I would appreciate any other information on these two men.(wife, Children, etc.)

Edward was the son of Jeremiah MAHER and Annie MATHEWS of Alameda County California. Edward's sister, Elizabeth DUGGAN, lived in Olympia and died May 1981. It was as I recall on the north side of the street and the street was an East one, like 4th Street East or 5th Street East. I am looking for family of Glenn Loren Gee of Olympia who died Oct 26, 1990 in Olympia. His wife's name was June and he had at least one son Loren Gee. Glenn's grandfather, William R Gee was the half brother of my second great grandfather, Thomas Moses Gee. They were the only two of their family to migrate west out of Missouri. I would like to share information. Glenn's brother Vern was my father's roommate in a German POW camp during WWII. It never ocurred to them that they could be related. My father is still living and can give some limited information about Vern's war history. If someone could locate an obit for Glenn it might help me to locate the family of him and his brother. She came to Linn Co., Oregon in 1853 with her parents and eight siblings. She adopted her brother Benjamin?s daughter, Mabel Eudora Freeland. On Aug 18, 1863 when Martha Angeline was 23, she married A.C. FAIRCHILD. They had one child: Eunice C. FAIRCHILD born on Apr 3, 1872 in Olympia, Thurston Co., WA. Eunice C. died in Salem, OR on Jun 11, 1890; she was 18. This family moved from Oregon to Washington and back to Oregon before ending in California. I would like to contact family researchers for more information on this family.

Wade Hampton Mead, a longtime resident of Olympia, Washington
went to be with our Lord on December 26, 2004, in Portland, Oregon.

Wade was born in Seattle, Washington on June 8, 1923
to Lester Laderney Mead, born in Andover, Allegany
County, New York and Eva May (Poole) Mead,
born in Traveler's Rest, Greenville, South Carolina.
He was the beloved brother of Luella Sturm,
who preceded him in death. He was 81.

A 1941 graduate of Queen Anne High School in Seattle,
Washington, Wade joined the US Navy and served
in the Pacific. After W.W.II, he attended the University
of Washington and joined Sigma Chi Fraternity.
He spent his career in the printing industry and was
a longtime Union member of the CWA. He worked for
several newspapers, including the Seattle
Post-Intelligencer, the Seattle Times and the Portland,
Oregonian. He retired from the Washington State Printing
Department in the early 80's. He loved golfing, travel, reading
and piloting a small plane. He was proud of hitting two holes-in-one:
in New Zealand during W.W.II and another in Olympia,
following his retirement. He was a former member
of the Olympia Genealogical Society.

He married and was the loving father of four
daughters, Alison Park of New Zealand,
twins Sharon Mockley and Maureen Mead of
Oregon and Mary Ann Nicholes of Washington.
He leaves thirteen grandchildren,
three great-grandchildren.

Following interment at Menlo Evergreen Cemetery
in Raymond, Washington, a Celebration of Life
was held Friday, January 7, 2005, at the Church of
Living Water, Olympia, Washington.

I used to have a wonderful school teacher by name I have just discovered this day, 26 October 2004, as Leila H. WARD, widow of W.H. Ward. She was listed in 1943, Olympia City Directory as residing at Box 280, Rural Route 2 in Olympia. I would earnestly like to know when and where she is buried in Olympia. She was one fine teacher, having taught, for many years at the old district number 25, located in Nisqually. Thank you.
