I believe that my mother's cousins died in the Spokane County, Washington area.(If the correct men on the SS index).
The parents were William Gooler and Zeda Granger.
The 1930 census shows that the first four children were born in Montana, but the youngest must have been born in ?Alabama? (could not read).
Roger J. Gooler was born about 1921.(wife Elsie?)
Raymond L. Gooler was born about 1923.
William J. Gooler was born about 1924.
Daniel P. Gooler was born about 1928,
Robert E. Gooler was born either 1925-1926.
Would really like to contact a living family member.
Would like to add them to the Granger family tree.

I have pictures of people with these surnames. They were taken in Spokane between 1914 and 1916. These are not my relatives, and I would like to get them to the descendents of these people. I don't have first names for all, but they are initialed. These people are all in their late teens and early twenties. Please notify me for more information.

Shelly

Jack was a nurseryman and had moved to WA in the late 20's - early 30's.

I believe there was also a memorial service held for him in the following few months and it was listed in the papers too, I think in the Spokane paper. I would like a copy of that too if possible.

Thanks,

Jim

I am searaching for information or a connection to anyone of Daniel McKenzie born in 1823 and who married Catherine Stalker in 1848. They had children: Catherine, Peter, Mary Ann,David, John, Duncan, Catherine, and twins Daniel and William. They came to the Georgetown, Onterio area in about 1855. I have found out that Daniel had a brother William with him and would like to especially know more about him and his decendants. They then went to Detroit, Michigan, then Grand Chain, Pulaski, Illinois, and then to Huchinson Kansas where Daniel died in 1884 and wife Catherine remarried to a Dougal McArthur. Afater his death she remarried William Scott. They lived in Elmira,Idaho, Spokane, Washington, Seattle, Washington and other areas. Please if you recognize these names or families I would love to hear from you. Thank you, Richelle Buckles

POW/MIA Korean War, Spokane Co. HERRINGTON, MELLICK, PASCHBECK

I am searching for the family of three soldiers who was killed in the Korea War. When they entered service they gave Spokane County, Washington as their home of record.

Soldier: WILLIAM FRANKLIN HERRINGTON
Born: 1918 Caucasian
Date of loss: November 30, 1950 KIA

Soldier: KENNETH NELSON MELLICK
Born: 1932 Caucasian
Date of loss: November 21, 1952 MIA

Soldier: RUDOLPH WILLIAM PASCHBECK JR
Born: 1931 Caucasian
Date of loss: August 31, 1950 MIA

When the Korean War ended the enemy never returned or accounted for over 8,000 of our servicemen. They died in their hands. That was over 50 years ago. Since that time DNA has been perfected and also they are recovering remains in North Korea. Our government is obligated to return those remains to the proper family. DNA samples have been obtained from most of the families of these missing soldiers. For various reasons some families have not been located. There are 46 families from Washington that have not been located. There are three families from Spokane County that has not been located.

When the remains are recovered and identified they will be returned to the family for proper burial. I am just an old (76 years) Combat Veteran out of the Korean War and thankful that I did return. I consider this a very noble cause and I hope that you can help in some way to find these families. For more information on the project you may go to http://www.jpac.pacom.mil/. My part in the program is to match up the lost families with the proper agency.

I will be grateful for any assistance in locating these families.

Harold Davis
40th Infantry Division
Korea ’52-‘53
910-791-2333
hgdavis@bellsouth.net
Elizabeth Larkin immigrated from England to St Paul MN in 1889. She married John Bernard Johnson (from Sweden) and had children Margaret, Mary T., Bernard, Florence, Genevieve in St Paul. They moved to Spokane WA where Eugene, Lucille and Dorothy were born. Genevieve married James Brooks in 1924 and Lucille married Robert Southern in 1931 in St. Aloysius Church. I think the Southerns are buried in Holyrood Cemetery Seattle.
There was some correspondence (with photos) with their English relatives until the 1940s when contact was lost.
I would like to hear from any descendants
Looking for information on Carl WALLMARK born 1901 in MN to Henning Elis Volmer (known as Volmer H.) WALLMARK and wife Hilda KROOK. The family moved to Florida sometime between 1917 and 1920, and Carl later may have moved to Oregon, then certainly moved to Washington, where his uncle Carl Otto Elis WALLMARK and wife Hilda STANLEY and children lived. Carl Leonard was a banker (Spokane Bank for Cooperatives). He died 16 Jan 1990 in Nine Mile Falls, WA, and his wife Mabel died there on 13 May 1996.

Are there any descendants of this couple? I am descended from another branch of the WALLMARK family and have an extensive family history of the WALLMARKs going back to the early 17th Century which I'm happy to share.

I am searching for the family of Mr. Thorval G. Risum. I believe hiw wife's name was Stella-perhaps only his daughter was Stella. They had owned land in Southern Alberta, Canada which Mr. Robert Charles Lewin purchased in 1916 and payments continued by F. J. Lewin from 1917 and onward after the death of Robert Charles Lewin who had emmigrated to Canada after purchasing the land in Canada and moving there from Butte, MT.
I have some correspondence between the two families from the Risum direction and am wondering if there are any Risum or even Risum Smith family members around. The Estate (cheques sent to Mr. Risum in 1929 and to the Risum Estate in 1930 and thereafter) signing of the cancelled cheques was made by Mrs. TG Risum until 1935 where the signing is by the Executrux Stella Risum Smith. Does anyone know about this family at all? Please contact me at: lj_met@msn.com

If possible, I would like to find the date of death and place of burial for William C. Hoyt(b. 1854 in Ohio) sometimes found as Charles W. Hoyt and his wife Mary(b. 1859 in Minnesota/Wisconsin). They are found in the 1910-1920-1930 Federal census living at Milan, Spokane Co. Washington. A March 6,1944 Spokane City death notice in the Spokesman Review for their daughter Dolores (Hoyt) Sweeney doesn't mention them. So I assume they died between the 1930 census and the 1940 Washington Death index.

I would appreciate a look-up for the obituary of Nona Jordahl who died in Spokane County in April of 1986. Her maiden name was Nona June Derby. She was born in June of 1898 in Colorado. Her parents were Martha Ellen McArthur and Alexander Thomas Derby. Her last address listed in the SSDI was 99016 Greenacres, Spokane, Washington. The marriage certificate lists her husband's name as H. A. Jordahl, the witness is Wesley I. Jordahl. They married November 9, 1947. I'm hoping that her obit will list her husband's first name. I have quite a bit of information about her siblings and parents if anyone is interested.

Thanks for any help you can give.
Alison McIntyre

I am desperately seeking information on Auguste Ottilie (Szlagowski Bablewski)Herrmann (spellings could/will vary), my great great grandmother. She and her husband, Richard, and two daughters (Helen 15, Martha 12) are last located on the 1910 Washington census, Spokane, Spokane Co. I cannot locate them on the 1920 or 1930 census. I cannot locate Auguste or Richard on the Washington Death Index that begins in 1940 so I am assuming they died prior to 1940. I do not know whom her daughters married or even if they married. I do not know if Auguste and Richard remained in the Spokane area after 1910. If I could at least locate where and when they died, it will help tremendously. I have a birth date of 27 Sep 1858/61 for Auguste and Jan 1869 for Richard.

Dear Mr. Hansen: Thank You for this information. I should have realized it was a mis-print and should have been "Parental," in this tiny item. It was just something I couldn't pass up to check on and do so appreciate your response.
Some while ago I was looking for an "orphanage," to which my Dad, John M. EILAR & his brother Hugh D.Eilar were placed when they were approximately 4 and 7 years of age, following their Mother's death at the Metalines from Cancer.

Have had various people look in indices to no avail in every school or home in the area over the years. My Grandfather had no way of looking after them, he and another of my Uncles were beginning work in the new Cement business at Metaline Falls. All Dad would ever say was that they were very homesick and were brought home, whereupon Dad was placed in Foster care and was subsequently adopted by that couple at Metaline Falls who became my Grandparents although he never lost touch with his birth family all of his 93 yrs to include nephews and cousins in that northeast section of WA & Spokane, loving to come back for visits as often as possible. And so do we his children and grandchldren.
My main objective is to learn what Dad's middle initial stood for, since his name was changed to John Eugene Brooks, even he wasn't sure what the "M," was for but he thought Martin. Others have thought Monroe. It has been my hope some school or orphanage records might just turn up the answer. My Eilar Grandfather always in every paper ever seen used the same initial. No birth certificates or other vital source printed out the whole name.
Plus it would close the gap on a life well lived but that portion never talked about except to say they were very glad to be brought home and life began happily in Metaline Falls with the Brooks family first as a foster child, then as their son.

Again I do Thank You,
Mary Brooks/Eilar Gilmore
Have used both surnames in genealogical research because research is done on both names for many years, but I was raised as a Brooks with pride. All Eilar, & my Grandmother's surname, Raber, relatives have been very encouraging along he way however, so we value both names equally.
Hello & good afternoon Spokane County Message Board,

I'm looking for information on 3 lost Erickson's from Sweden that made their way to Cambria County, Pennsylania.

Ruth was my grandfather William Erickson's half sister. She also had a sister Linnea and a brother Everett (but he was called Ever)

My Great Grandfather Charles Erickson brought Ruth, Linnea and Everett over from Sweden after the death of their mother. Charles met my great grandmother Sophia Anderson in Kane, Pa and they later settled in Cambria County, Pa. My grandfather William was one of the 2nd group of 3 from Charles and Sophia.

In 1918, Ruth, Linnea and Everett left PA for Chicago. Ruth eventually moved out to Walnut Creek, California. From what I was told, she married (married name Storm) and had a daughter Lois Watson.

Lois Watson moved to Spokane, Washington and from my understanding, Ruth Storm went to live with her in her later years.

My Grandmother Erickson use to correspond with Ruth, Linnea and Everett up until their passings.

My grandmother is in her 90's and doing well. She is still living in the same area of PA.

My hope in reaching to the message board is that I am able to find some relatives who are equally interested in finding some of lost relatives on this side of the family.

I'm looking forward to talking with you.

Thank you,

Keith Erickson
El Paso, Tx

Deep Creek (Falls)/ Latterell, Samuel and William E.

Howdy seeking information about the town of Deep Creek Falls in Spokane County along Highway 2. There doesen't seem to be a lot of info on the internet. In addition I am interested in the Latterell brothers, Samuel and William Edward (or Edmond?) who were born in MN and migrated to Spokane. I believe they built the house that I now own. It is located in the original town plat of Deep Creek Falls and from my research at the county courthouse the blocks and lots they owned stayed pretty intact throughout the years leading me to believe that the town wasn't very big and developement didn't spread over to their property. In the 1920 census it is listed as a grain farm. Being a history buff I would like to know a little more about the brothers, what they did, other houses they built, and what the property was originally used for. I haven't had the opportunity to visit the archives and view the Tax Assessors field book. Any pictures would be appreciated as well. I wouldn't mind restoring the outside of the place if I could.

Prior to Samuel purchasing the place it was owned by a bank (Security Savings Society- I believe). I would like to research further back but will have to wait till I return from Iraq.

Thanks in advance,

Wendell

wogentry@yahoo.com

Sisters Mary Mahaffey Fischer and Emma Mahaffey Goodrich 1930

Looking for information on two sisters. Mary and Emma Mahaffey. I found them living in Spokane in 1930. They are listed in the obituary of their father William Mahaffey who died in Pendleton, Umitilla, Oregon in the State Mental Hospital in 1931. Mary Fischer is listed as a widow with two boys, Robert age 8 and Armin? age 5. It would seem that their father had died in the last five years. Who was he?
Mary Goodrich is found with her husband Oliver and children, Raymond age 20 working as an electrician for Icon foundry, Willard age 17 paper carried for newspaper, twin sister Hazel not working. Father Oliver is a fireman. Any information on any of these would be apprciated.

Can anyone help me find the divorce record for William and Helma Lindgren Graham, and then the marriage record for William and Anna Gusk???

I found that William and Helma were married in British Columbia.

Any thoughts as to find out about his parents, we are told that they are Richard and Caroline Stevens Graham. But I can only find William 1910 and forward, he was born in 1887 in Brooklyn, N.Y>?

Looking for information on my grandfather, Ernest John LINDGREN's family. Originally from St. Paul, MN, he settled in Spokane. Eventually most of his siblings came to Spokane as well. I'm interested in any information on Arthur Lindgren, Agner "Harry" Lindgren, Walter Hedwig Lindgren, Garnett Rangel Lindgren, Gerda Dagmar Lindgren Richardson, Sigfried Cribe Lindgren, and Paul Elmer Lindgren. Their parents were Peter John Lindgren and Ida Swanson Lindgren. I live in Virginia so it's a bit hard being on the other side of the US, hope to hear from you, thanks!
