There are many questions about this intermingled family of Babcock, Ellarson, Walker, House family. I have tried to locate Amos Babcock after 1840 but have not found him anywhere so therefor cannot verify his parents names. Would love to connect with anyone researching this family who resided in NY,WI,IA,KS and then WA. He is one of our civil war vets resting at our G.A.R. section at Evergreen Cemetery, Everett, WA.

1840 Prairie Ville, Milwaukee, WI Ter. Amos Babcock with under 5/1 male 30/40 1 male (should be Amos), under 5/ 1 female and 20/30 1 female (should be Mary A)

John was born 2/25/1844 says in pension Waukesha, WI and remains WI throughout his documents.

1850 Was unable to find Amos Babcock with John 1850 in WI

1860 Was unable to find Amos or John or Fynette House (nee Walker) in this census either

John M. Babcock AKA John M Clark joined the 18th IL Infantry Co. K as a private said he was 25 years old, a farmer and born in Waukesha, WI. He was discharged 6/17/1864 at Springfield, IL Mr. Babcock requested pension from this service.

Phoebe Babcock nee Ellarson died 2/27/1868 and is buried at Greenwood Cemetery Nashusa, IA

John M. Babcock married Finette House nee Walker 12/1/1869 at Waukesha, WI John noted his parents as Amos Babcock & Mary A. Babcock. Finette noted her parents as P.G. Walker and Eunice Walker.

1870 Richland, Chickasaw, IA John Babcock 29/WI farmer, Finette 24/WI, Frederick House 1864/WI stepson, Chauncy 1867/IA, Eva Babcock 1867/IA Eva was the daughter of John & Phoebe Babcock and Fred & Chauncy were the children of Joseph House and Finette House (now Babcock). (Joseph House died 1866 in IA)

1880 Sumner, Osborne, KS John 1841/WI farmer, Vinett 1845/WI, Frank House 1864/WI, Chancy 1867/WI, Eva E. Babcock1867/IA, Ella N 1872/IA, Nora 1879/KS

1900 Everett, Snohomish Co. WA J.M. Babcock 2/1842/WI real estate m29yrs, Fynett 5/1846/WI 2 ch 2living, Lenore 10/1879/KS, Frank 1884/KS

1910 Everett, Snohomish Co. WA J. M. Babcock 69 real estate notes he is a UA soldier, Fenett 65 says had 6 children 5 liv., Frank 25 real estate. Living next door is Roy Sargeant 1877/WI house builder, and Lenora (nee Babcock) 1879/KS.

By 1910 both Chauncy & Fred House are also living in WA.

John M. Babcock died 7/24/1912 at his home on Grand Ave. and Chauncy House was the informant. He is buried at Evergreen Cemetery, Everett, WA

1920 Everett, Snohomish Co. WA Roy Sargeant 1877, carpenter, Lenora 1879, Greeley 1913/WA, Helen 1915/WA, Finette Babcock 1846/WI mother in law widow.

1930 Everett, Snohomish Co. WA Roy Sargeant 53 home contractor, Nora 51, Greeley 18 no income, Fynett Babcock mother in law 84 and widow, also living in household John F. Phillips 23/WA nephew, Ida Phillips 22/CA niece.


Fynett E. Babcock died 10/29/1932 at her home on Rucker in Everett, Snohomish Co. WA and is buried with her husband at Evergreen Cemetery the informant was her son in law Roy Sargeant.
