1872 San Juan Island Petition - 60 Signatures
Have a copy of a document from San Juan Island, with approximately 60 signatures on a petition addressed to the Governor of BC, requesting a person to represent their (British Settlers) interests after the withdrawal of the British Garrison . . . dated 1872. Will email to anyone interested!
One of the signatures on this petition is LOUIS FALARDEAU (French Canadian) a retired employee of the Hudson Bay Company, he is my triple great grandfather. I believe he died and is buried on the Island, but still do not have proof of the event. He was Roman Catholic. Other spellings for the FALARDEAU name; Filedow, Feladoo, Falardo, etc. Other related names are Peter and Eleonore DeJoannis (spelling ?), Peter and Eleanore Nelson, Peter and Caroline Peterson, Peter and Mary Friday.
