I have ancestors who lived in Fife, WA and died sometime between 1910 - 1930. Not sure where to start looking for them. Does anyone have any suggestions regarding popular cemeteries in that area during that time frame? (I'm specifically looking for Frank & Barbara Aurzada) I would greatly appreciate a look-up if there is an index available.

Also, does anyone know anything about the Firwood Indian Cemetery? (also known as Willard Indian Cemetery) I'm looking for a Nisqually Indian, named "Bat Appletree"

I looked in the US Census and did not find them living in Washington, or any other Aurzada. I did find a Frank Aurzada and Barbara Aurzada...but...

1930 census:
Barbara Aurzada, born circa 1910, living as a niece in the household of Anthony 38 and Selma 34, in Wadena, Wadena Co, MN. Anthony was born in MN to both parents born in Germany. Barbara born in MN to father born in Michigan, mother in Germany.
Frank, 46, single, living in Todd, Hubbard Co, MN. Born in MN to German parents.

1920
Barbara living as daughter to Edward and Rose. Edward born in Michigan to both parents born in Germany, Rose born in Germany
Frank was living in Wadena.with his mother Anna, age 65, born in Germany,
Also living in Wadena was Anthony and Selma.

So, it looks like Frank, Anthony and Edward were siblings, Barbara daughter to Edward.

In 1920, there was a Joseph M. Aurzada living in Pierce County, WA. He was born in Michigan to both parents born in Kentucky. He was 46, married and was a roomer in a boarding house on Mount Rainier Road. Joseph was born 7 Mar 1877, died Jan 1968 in Tacoma, WA

Otherwise I could not find any others connected.

Thanks for looking into this for me! The Frank and Barbara Aurzada (and family) you found in Minnesota are not the same ones I'm looking for. I've been researching them as well, and although I think they are related to my Frank and Barbara (both families were in Michigan in 1880), I haven't been able to find a link yet.

From land records and information passed down from their daughter (my 2nd great grandmother), I know they moved to Fife around 1890. I believe they show up on the 1910 census as Arzada & Barbara "Brown. Barbara is also on the 1920 census, living with her daughter, Anna Heilig, in Gardenville.

The Joseph M. Aurzada you mentioned, was a son of the Frank & Barbara I'm looking for.

I spoke with a distant relative yesterday, who thought that they might be buried at the Sumner Cemetery. I checked the transcription that is available on-line, but can't find them there. (Not sure if that transcription includes the "Pioneer" portion of the cemetery.

I happened to spot this message. I am originally from Fife. I don't recognize the family names for whom you are searching, but I do know the Heilig name. You might try calling the cemetery office; these folks are usually fairly helpful! If they were Catholic, they may be buried at Calvary Cemetery in Tacoma. I also know where the Indian cemetery is in Firwood. It is quite small, but I have never stopped to look at the markers. This site may be of help to you: http://www.tacomapubliclibrary.org/Page.aspx?nid=7

Looks like both Frank and Barbara are buried in the Tacoma Cemetery. I found them on Findagrave.com This website is not a guarantee that they are definatly there, but you could call the cemetery..
