I noticed your postings of 2007 on Ancestry re: Marion Elizabeth Johnson-Cornwell. My grandfather, Luther Wesley Johnson was Mary Elizabeth's brother. By any chance do you have any information re: Elizabeth Martin-Johnson, their mother? I've been trying to find her parents for many years.
We got to meet several of our "Johnson" relatives when we were in Norway a few years ago. Hadn't had any information re: Elizabeth's parents. She and Erasmus Johnson married in Lake, Milwaukee WI 9 Sept. 1859.
We are willing to share considerable information we have found on Elizabeth & Rasmus and hope to hear from you.
Norma L.
ALSO...the Seattle City Directories (Polks, a yearly publication of persons that in a populated area) "should" show the Theron Pratt family in Seattle. If Beverly became employed while still living at the address, she should be also shown. Once Theron died, his wife "might" have lived at the home of her daughter...IF they were living in Seattle.
Wayne,
Besides the below, I will also send you a direct email message.

The other poster wrote
> An Alfred Pratt b. 19 Oct 1897, Last Residence=Seattle, 98107, died May 1969. Soc. sec. # assigned in CA before 1951. Source: Social Security Death Index, www.ancestry.com.
> I'd contact the Washington State Library and request his exact death date and obituary.

That is NOT the correct person. The correct person died in California in 1968.

For the other poster: Aden's middle name was Stephen

The 1900 Census for Golden, Okanogan Co.
A.S. Pratt, born Aug 1865 in New York to both parents born in New York
Edna, born June 1865 in Minnesota to father born in Pennsylvania, mother in France.
--The 1910 Census for Golden, enumerated about late April.
Edna, age 46, born in Minnesota to father born in Germany, mother in New York.
--The 1920 Census for Golden, enumerated 3 Jan 1920
Edna, age 55 to father born in Pennsylvania, mother in New York
--The 1870 Census for Utica, Winona Co., Minnesota
Peter Erb, 55, born in Pennsylvania
Catherine, 40, born in New Jersey
Edna, 7, born in MN
Siblings: John 15, Martin 13, William 11, Elizabeth 9, Enoch 5, Peter 3, Elias 6/12.
--The 1880 Census for New Richland, Waseca Co, MN
Peter 65, born in Pennsylvania
Catherine 47, born in New York

--The 1930 Census for Downey, LA County, CA, .
Edna Pratt, Servant, age 66, born in Minnesota to father born in Illinois, mother in New York. This person "appears" to be the correct Edna based on more of an indepth research on her parents; but you need to verify.

Theron's daughter Beverly Irene Pratt was born 11 Dec 1919 in Seattle to Theron and Pauline (Anderson) Pratt.
---Pauline Pratt, born 1 July 1900, died Feb 1985. She is not identified on the Washington Death Index which would identify the day of her death.
--A Pauline E. Pratt sold property in Seattle on Jan. 9, 1978 to a Lamar and Inez Criss. But, there doesn't seem to be any family connection between the Criss family and the Pratt family.
Since Pauline died many years after Theron, her obit would "possibly" have more current information on the daughter...especially her married name. The Washington Library does check microfilm records for obituaries; but, they probably won't spend much time looking at each daily paper. You can "try" that first. If they don't succeed in their time limit, I'd suggest a volunteer at the Random Acts of Genealogical Kindness to search for the obit of Pauline, and possibly info on Beverly. READ THE GUIDELINES FIRST, you can't ask more than one person at a time for the same research:
http://www.raogk.org/washingt2.htm

Ron Bestrom

I posted a response to this about a week ago, can't find it anywhere. I thought it might have been on the Ferry County board...but anyway, will try to reconstruct:

The Bungalow mine location can be found at:
http://itouchmap.com/?d=1517098&s=WA&f=mine
It is south of Republic, WA.

Now, I'd would suggest opening another window, cut and paste the above link into the new window and activate. You should get the same map, now in two separate browser windows. In the second one, at the top left, where it reads "Show Map of Another Location", enter "Park City, Washington". Now, you can compare the location of both. If you Zoom In, you can see a closer location for the Park City area. It is south of the Bungalow mine.

Looking at the location of Park City, switch to "Satellite" view. As you can see there is no city in that area. The location is just identified as the Park City Loop Road, also known as BIA (Bureau of Indian Affairs) Road 2056.

Where did you find this name? If you were doing genealogy and found someone living in the "Park City" Precinct, it "might" be just the name of the precinct area. A lot of precincts are named by the name of the road through the area (I find this true in the precinct names where my family lived in rural Washington State).

Ron Bestrom

Hello,
I saw your post on Maudie Austin and her obituary mentions her daughter Dorine AUSTIN GRONLUND. I believe that Dorine was married to Sven Gustaf GRONLUND who is a part of my family tree. Would you have any information on Dorine and her husband? Or perhaps you would know someone from their family that is interested in trading information about the GRONLUND family.

I think I have found Dorine and Sven Gustaf GRONLUND in the Social Security Death Index. What I would really like to find out is what happened to Sven Gustaf GRONLUND's father, Carl J. GRONLUND. He was married to my great-grandmother, a second marriage for both of them. I lose him in the 1930 census in Lapeer county, Michigan.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Chris Barker

The Washington Death Certificate Index shows
--George H. Fortine died 17 May 1917 in Oroville, Okanogan County, at the age of 51 years, 11 months and 4 days. The death certificate for parents was identified as reading "Do Not Know". So, whoever provided the information for him (respondent) either was not a member of the family or had little information on him.
--Alice Fortie, died 20 May 1938 at Medical Lake, Spokane Co, WA, at age 30 years 4 months and 36 days (36 days? that is unusual as it is over a month period). Her parents were George Fortie and Flora Vezzoni. (This is based on the names you provided. You may have more information to confirm this George is the same as Fortine. But, this death certificate shows this Flora was a Vezzoni.

Before you PAY any society for research, there are two volunteers in Okanogan County, both do public records research and copying. READ the Guidelines first before contacting: Set for Okanogan County.
http://www.raogk.org/washingt3.htm

Ron Bestrom

When post, it is better to post some specific information about the family for which you search. If you have names and Dates-of-Birth, that is very important. Or, a time-frame. Are you talking 1990's or 1890's. The chances of someone in that family or even someone researching that family in Okanogan County finding this message is not near as great as a volunteer finding it and helping in the research. Also, identify why you think they were in Okanogan Co, what records do you already have, that will eliminate a lot of extra work for a researcher.

Here is a website on posting:
http://www.tedpack.org/goodpost.html

I was born in Okanogan in 1947 and lived there until I was 9 yr old. My father was Ronnie Partridge and mother was Mildred Kaufman, both family have been in the town for along time. However my fathers parents Charley and Nettie Flohr Partridge died before I was born in 1942 & 1933. My father also had a sister named Mildred Partridge who married Ralph Wilson who was Okanogan's sheriff. My parents divorced and I moved to California so really never was able to get to know much about this side of my family.

My mother, Mescal was born in 1931 and believes she was 3 or 4 years old when they arrived. She remembers a playmate named Lily who was her age. My grandparents were friends with the Game Warden but we do not know his name either.

Mr. Fortine raced Canadian Pacers from Quebec to Kelowna and settled in Molson, establishing a sawmill in either Chesaw or Mt. Hull. He married Flora Welling 1-19-1907 and later moved to Oroville around 1911 where he raised and trained horses for logging.

Can anyone tell me about his connection to the sawmill or his life in the area?

A school made of concrete was later built on the hill south of there. I only lived there 3 years during the depression think it was 1933 to 1935. I am very old now(84) but remember many of the names like Dr Hudnut ,Earl Decamp ,Churhills. Kuntz ,Parmeter, Beggs, Kincade plus more. Did your Ggparents go to school there?I fell in the water holding the logs for the mill. There may be a Robert Kuntz still living in the area.

My uncle was Evan Jensen of Grand Coulee. I am the son of Evan's brother Herman Jensen. Evan was married to Myrtle Wyatt of Nespelem. I was trying to find more about Myrtle's genealogy. I think Myrtle died in 1994 or so and I think she was buried at Grand Coulee.
Thanks!
Ric Jensen, ricwjensen@yahoo.com

Hi Ric,
A Myrtle W. Jensen Estimated Birth abt. 1923, Residence=Grant Co., died 24 July 1994, Grant Co per death cert #025078. Source: Washington Death Index 1940-96, www.ancestry.com.

A Myrtle J. Jensen b. 21 April 1923, Last Residence=Grand Coulee, Grant Co., WA 99133 died 24 July 1994. Her soc. sec. # was assigned in CA before 1951. Source: Social Security Death Index, www.ancestry.com.

Since she was born in 1923, she would have appeared in the 1930 census but I didn't find her under Myrtle Wyatt. The 1930 is the most recent one available until 2012 when the 1940 Census will be released.

To find more information about her, I'd pursue her obituary. The Washington State Library will provide a copy of any obituary published in WA state. Go to www.secstate.wa.gov/library/ask.aspx . They will search the newspaper microfilm for 60 minutes at no charge & email what they do or don't find to you. Successful Searching!

Hi,
I don't know any of the details about George and Flora's lives.

You can send an email to the Okanogan County Genealogy Society, ocgs@ncidata.com and ask them if they do research.

The Okanogan County Historical Museum can be reached at POB 1129, Okanogan, WA 98840, 509-422-4272. They might do research too.

The Okanogan Auditor might have a copy of their marriage license on file since their wedding was in January and the state law required marriage licenses in July, 1907.

Also the Wenatchee Area Genealogy Society, www.wags-web.org has several books on the Okanogan County and does research.
