Ross' brother, Theodore, was born in 1893. According to the 1920 federal census of Walla Walla Co., WA, Theodore was born in TN, so his brother Ross may have been, also. In 1940, when my ggrandfather Peter AUSTIN died, his obituary indicated that he had two surviving nephews, Ross and Theodore, who were both living in Chesaw, Okanogan Co., WA, in 1940. Nothing is known of them or any of their descendants. Any information appreciated. Their AUSTIN relatives would be delighted
to find them! May 14, 1997
Anna GRONLUND died between 1910-1919 prob. Okanogan County, Washington

Hi, I'm looking for the death date for Anna GRONLUND (nee Anna Erika LUNDBERG). She was born in Sweden May 8, 1864 and married Karl Johan GRONLUND on January 28, 1885 in Sweden. They immigrated to the United States in November 1910 and settled in Okanogan County, Washington. In 1917 Karl Johan GRONLUND filed for naturalization and listed his wife on his naturalization papers as Anna GRONLUND, so I assume she was still living in 1917. By 1920 Karl Johan GRONLUND is married to his second wife Vendla, so Anna must have died before 1920. I hope that there may be a cemetery index that lists Anna's death date. Any help will really be appreciated. Thanks
Nancy Josephine Thomas was living with her father John Mitcheltree Thomas and her nephew Charles E. Thomas in the Carlton area around 1910. John died in 1911, and we have no record of her whereabouts since. Some unverified information suggests she may have married a George Bunnell, date and place unknown.

As far as I can tell, she isn't buried in Okanogan county. She was born in 1870 at Thomas in the White River Valley (near Kent).

I have scanned every page of the Methow Valley News from 1903 through 1911 but found no mention of her, only a couple mentions of her father. If anyone has any suggestions of further research material that may prove fruitful, or knows anything about her, please let me know.

Thanks,

John

I have just begun my search on this family, some of the basics are:

Husband: Morgan Williams, born 1846, died 1941, came to the area by the 1900 census, buried Methow Cemetery.

Wife: Cornelia A. Williams, born 1854, died 1931, buried Methow Cemetery. She was born in Iowa, maiden name: Stowe.

Children from census reports: Lilah (Lila), Joseph, Ira, Emery, Ada, Lloyd and Clarence.

I have not found Lila Williams since the 1880 census report. Ditto for Joseph Williams and Ira Williams.

Emery Earl Williams, born 1882, died 1918, registered for WWI draft, and buried Methow Cemetery.

Ada V. Williams married Bert Vroman, 1910, she was born 1887, died 1972, buried Methow Cemetery.

Bert Vroman, born 1884, died 1969, also buried Methow Cemetery.

Children from census reports of Ada and Bert: Daniel, Glenn, Irene. Daniel Vroman died 1926, buried Methow Cemetery. Glenn Vroman died 1978, also buried Methow Cemetery. Lost Irene Vroman after the 1930 census reports.

Lloyd Homer Williams, born 1890, died 1972, buried Methow Cemetery. Wife per census was Bertha (maiden name unknown).

Children, from census reports of Lloyd Williams and Bertha were Bessie, Mildred and Lloyd E. Lloyd E. Williams died 1982, have not discovered burial place. Nothing more known about his sisters.

Clarence Williams, born 1892 in Minnesota. No further record of him has been discovered, yet.

As of the 1910 census Cornelia Stowe Williams claims 7 children, all of whom survived to that date.

Interested in finding descendants of these people and of course, filling in more of the family tree. I have history of Cornelia back through her parents and grandparents (maternal).

Looking for information and / or obit for Annie J Chamberlin, wife of James A Stoddard. She died 24 Feb 1905 in Okanogan County, WA. I believe her name was actually Anar J Chamberlain, daughter of Luke Chamberlain and Julia Barnes of Jefferson County, NY. Anar had a sister, Julia Chamberlain Smylie, who was the mother of Jennie Adele Smylie. Jennie married Jacob Foss Sargent and they homesteaded in Onkanogan County in the early 1900's also. Any further information concerning Annie's family would be greatly appreciated. I have found most of the information posted concerning them at ancestry.com. I have a photo from the 1850's of Luke Chamberlain and his two daughters, Anar & Julia. Thank you!

He settled in Chesaw, Okanogan County. He origianlly made a homestead entry in 1904. James M. Johnson died in Nov. 1906, and the land went to his wife, but she had already died in Sept. 1905, so this is a second, revised patent being issued to their son Jessie A. Johnson, who at this point had a wife and 2 kids.

In 1889, Gus Ridle, operating the ferry, was confronted by one Mr. Peterson who owed him some money. Seeking to cross the river, Peterson engaged Riddle in an argument in which he shot the ferry operator, who soon died in Ellensburg.
I'm looking for the first name of Mr. Peterson. Would there be a newspaper article in regards to the shooting? Where would I look? What happened to Mr. Peterson? Any help, I would appreciate.
Thank you, Nancy

Hello,

I am looking for any help to locate the ancestors of John B. Zacherle (B. stands for Baptiste, as far as I know). He was born June 18, 1868 and came to the US in 1877 (that's the family legend). He lived in North Carolina for a while, worked in Seattle for four years until coming to Omak (St. Mary's Mission) in 1900 where he married Pauline Cleveland, a native american girl, in 1901. He died in 1951.

I am living in germany and am kind of a family historian. I am in contact with John's descendants (in fact, I have visited them twice), but his origins remain a mystery. I only know that he came from germany and that his mothers' maiden name was Heits.

I would be very grateful about any help!

Thanks

Michael Zacherle

My family was logging ~1933 in WA state...They were living in Nespelem on the Colville Indian Reservation and doing logging.. their or nearby I don't know.. they were their no more than 2 or 3 years. My g.grandpa, Dave Potter, was friends with the conservaton officer, who came by for supper. (My Gggma, assisted by Ggma, was the camp good and said to be a good cook).

My grandmother Mescal Potter was a little girl there, she very fondly recalls it and had a beautiful necklace made with seedbeads (sadly the stringing rotted and it fell apart).. She wore a buckskin play dress, and I have photograph of her, with a doll also wearing a buckskin dress. Also there was gggma, ggma, cousin Bart Belcher. There is a photograph of Bart Belcher with 'Dan Dana'. Dan Dana is not a relative that I know of... is he someone's family in Colville?

Would anyone have a clue regards logging in Nespelem area and how I might obtain any additional information about my families presence there.

I'm looking for information, pictures, news articles etc... on the follwing:

Edward F Fairbanks-father, born 1837 in Ohio. Find him in 1900 census, can't find him after that. They were living in central WV at that time. The Trails and Tales of Okanogan County mentions the family arrived in WA in 1908. I cannot find any death info on him anywhere.

Helen B Fairbanks-mother, received 2 land grants in 1916 and 1917 in OC. Born in Ohio, married Edward in 1860 in Ohio. Died Jan 1920 in OC.

Edward Fairbanks- son and arrived in OC with the family. He never married and is buried along side his sister, Amanda Fairbanks Woods. He died in 1940 or 41.

Fred or Frederick Fairbanks-Best guess that he arrived sometime in OC during the 1940's and died in Oroville, WA in Sep 1946. Rumored to have remarried and may have had more children with 2nd wife? This is my g-g grandfather, looking for any desendants that still may be living in the Oroville area.

Also, did most people do railroad and highway construction there? If so, who did they work for? Trying to locate info on relatives who lived and worked there and track down school records.
THANKS!

KERAN family of Brewster

I grew up in Brewster, Okanogan Co., and am looking for information about KERAN family birthdates and marriages. Grandparents and great-grandparents both moved there in 1945 from Gillet, Wyoming. Great-grandfather William Edward KERAN, Sr., I think died in 1975 or around there. Great-grandmother Hazel Edna BAILOR KERAN passed 1993 around Mother's Day. Grandfather William Edward KERAN, Jr., died 1994-95; Grandmother Betty Maxine KERAN 1997. All were buried in Brewster cemetery. I just received my great-grandmother's Bible, and it is full of information about her family. I don't have much on great-grandfather's side. He had one brother, but I am having trouble tracing him down in Iowa. I just became interested in our family history; I wished I would of been more into it when my great-grandmother was telling her stories. I know where my father and aunt were born, but he isn't sure where his parents were born. I know grandfather was in the Air Force during WWII.
