I'm looking for information on Bror Wilhelm GRONLUND. He was born in Sweden September 29, 1901. He came to America in November 1910 with his father (Karl Johan GRONLUND, born 1864, Sweden) and mother (Anna Erika LUNDBER GRONLUND, born 1864, Sweden.) They settled in or near Oroville, Okanogan County, Washington. His mother, Anna Erika, died July 11, 1918 and is buried in the Riverview Cemetery, Oroville, Okanogan County, Washington. Bror Wilhelm is mentioned in his father's (Karl Johan GRONLUND) naturalization papers so I know he was alive in 1917 and 1918. I don't find him living in his father's household in the 1920 census however. I don't know if Bror Wilhelm GRONLUND moved away or perhaps died before the 1920 census. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I believe he might be the William GRONLUND, age 19, born Sweden, emigrated 1910, in the 1920 CA Nevada County, Meadow Lake census. He is a lodger working as a railroad laborer.

I don't find a good match after 1920. Is his father Carl J. in Michigan in 1930? Are the Carl A. and Ernst GRONLUND in WA brothers of your Bror Wilhelm? Ernst is still in Okanogan County in 1930, but I don't find Carl.

You might want to search through the Washington State Digital Archives for more family information:

I will check a couple more resources and get back to you if I find anything conclusive.

Thanks for reading my post. I had seen the California census and wondered if that could be Bror Wilhelm GRONLUND but couldn't be sure without more information.

The Carl J. GRONLUND in the Michigan census is Bror's father. His brother, Carl A. GRONLUND was living in Winnebago County, Illinois in the 1930 census, but he was listed a Charles.

Ernst GRONLUND was an adopted son I believe. A Ernst A. LIDSTROM was with the family when they came to America in 1910 on the S.S. Mauretania. Anna Erika LUNDBERG GRONLUND's obit mentions that she raised an adopted son but it didn't give his name.

Thanks for the help, I really do appreciate it and I'll keep checking for more proof.

Barbara,
Thank you so much. How in the world did you ever find this? I thought I had looked everywhere, but I had mostly looked in Washington and California where I thought I had found him in the 1920 census. I'm assuming that this is the Reno that is in Nevada. I really do appreciate your help.
Thanks again,
Chris Barker
