Somerville Rite Listed
William (Bill) Somerville, 76, a lifetime resident of Lewis County, died at a Chehalis nursing home Monday after a long illness.
Somerville was born Jan. 22, 1892, in Napavine. He was partner with his brother Al Somerville in Al and Bill's Tavern Chehalis, for 30 years until his retirement. In his early years Somerville was an avid baseball player and coached several teams in the now defunct Timber League, He was a member of the Chehalis Elks and the Chehalis Eagles Aerie.
Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Gwen Somerville, Chehalis; one son, "Slim," of Pasco; one daughter, Mrs. Robert (Sylvia) Markstrom, Pasco; a brother, Al, of Chehalis; two sisters, Mrs. Elsie Jensen of Wenatchee and Mrs. Eva Nelsen of Tumwater; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be Thursday, 1 p.m. at the Sticklin Funeral home, Chehalis. Interment will follow at Greenwood Memorial Park, Centralia.
