I'd be very interested in knowing how you obtained a date for a divorce (dissolution) decree for November 1894. I had a thought this "might" have been a typo for 1984? I always like to increase my genealogy search methods, so, if you please, let me know how you obtained this information.

In any event, a divorce was/is filed in the Superior Court for the County in which the Petitioner was living. Usually the Respondent lived in the same area, but not always.

The Clerk of the Superior Court is/was responsible for the court records. For Lewis County:

i have tried the county clerk, divorce was filed, but divorce papers can't be found, misplaced or lost on mary jane houston and john houston

mary jane houston divoced her husband john houston on nov 30,1894 year is no mistake, mary died sometime after she divorce john ,she is buried under her maiden name,buried with her family, i contact the cemetery and funeral home,lady was very helpful, mary family is very big,she found mary and john divorce in the newspaper,
