Does anyone know where I might find old lodge records from this Swedish-Finn organization? I found an entry on a 1906 membership roster for the lodge which I think may be my great-aunt. She emigrated to Seattle in 1902 and died in 1912. I have not been able to find her anywhere. I have had a search of the deaths for the date, but no-one by her name was found. If she married, why she died so young and where she died are my "brick walls." No one in the family, here in the US or Finland knows.

I am searching for the family of eight soldiers who was killed in the Korea War. When they entered service they gave King County, Washington as their home of record.

Soldier: LESTER VINCENT BARCHESKY
Born: 1907 Caucasian
Date of loss: December 1, 1950 POW

Soldier: RICHARD ERWIN CLAPP
Born: 1931 Caucasian
Date of loss: September 2, 1950 KIA

Soldier: FRANK J DUCHARME
Born: 1931 Caucasian
Date of loss: May 16, 1951 MIA

Soldier: JOHN ROSS JOHNSON
Born: 1929 Caucasian
Date of loss: November 28, 1950 POW

Soldier: DONALD LELAND MCKEON
Born: November 2, 1950 Caucasian
Date of loss: November 2, 1950 MIA

Soldier: GEORGE SOCERTIA ROGERS
Born: 1921 Caucasian
Date of loss: November 30, 1950 POW

Soldier: LEONARD EUGENE SUNDBERG
Born: 1932 Caucasian
Date of loss: July 8, 1953 MIA

Soldier: JOHN BASIL WRIGHT
Born: 1932 Caucasian
Date of loss: November 28, 1950 MIA

When the Korean War ended the enemy never returned or accounted for over 8,000 of our servicemen. They died in their hands. That was over 50 years ago. Since that time DNA has been perfected and also they are recovering remains in North Korea. Our government is obligated to return those remains to the proper family. DNA samples have been obtained from most of the families of these missing soldiers. For various reasons some families have not been located. There are 46 families in Washington that have not been located. There are eight families from King County that has not been located.

When the remains are recovered and identified they will be returned to the family for proper burial. I am just an old (76 years) Combat Veteran out of the Korean War and thankful that I did return. I consider this a very noble cause and I hope that you can help in some way to find this family. For more information on the project you may go to http://www.jpac.pacom.mil/. My part in the program is to match up the lost families with the proper agency.

I will be grateful for any assistance in locating these families.

Harold Davis
40th Infantry Division
Korea ’52-‘53
910-791-2333
hgdavis@bellsouth.net
Seeking an obituary for both Ed and Orul Towey Wilkes.

This is what I know:

Ed joined the US Navy as a young man and was stationed in Nicaragua where he was a hospital orderly and then an X-Ray technician. After he was discharged from the Navy, he married and settled in the Washington D.C. area. He and his wife were both civil service workers. Upon retiring, Ed Wilkes and his wife Orul traveled extensively in Mexico after leaving the United States, and settled in Ajijic, Jalisco, Mexico in the early 1970’s. Ed died in 1997, in Mexico.

Orul was born in Minnesota to Patrick and Margaret Towey, in 1904. She later lived with her sister Dorothy Titus in the state of Washington and attended the University of Washington in Seattle. Orul died in Mexico in March 1985.

Hello: I have 2 couples that lived in Redondo WA; they are buried in Sumner Pioneer Cem; I would like to get some additional information about them. Was there a local newspaper that might have information about them. Local family information says there was an amusement park associated with the family--they owned it-ran it? Also Ida was postmistriss in Redondo; so it sounds like they should have been well known. Might there be city directories or something to get a little extra info...actually proof of the stories I just wrote about? Would love to get death notice from the paper; better yet an obit if there is one.

Charles Eugene Betts died 12 Jul 1926
sp-Mary Ellen Horning Betts died in 1960

Isaac S Hurd died 4 Apr 1938
sp-Ida May Betts Hurd died 9 Nov 1941

Thank you for any consideration in this project.
Frank Harold Shannon and Gertrude Hillary Shannon post by Julie VanderMeer

Hi Julie, I have been trying to find you for a couple of years now. I am a relative of Frank Harold Shannon. He is my Great Uncle. My mother's uncle. She is a Shannon. He actually died in Los Angeles CA in August of 1961 and so did Gertrude. They were hit and killed by a motorist. I have his death certificate if you would like it. I still have to go back to LA County and get Gertrude's. Please contact me if you have any info or pictures as well as would like further info from me. By the way they did not come from Chicago, they only lived there a short time. Frank's parents are my great grandparents and they are buried in Evergreen Washelli in Seattle along side several other Shannon Family members. My mother and I will be buried there someday too with my Grandfather Robert Shannon (Frank's youngest brother). You can email me at kj_gw@comcast.net Best Regards, Kimberly

Newbie USA researcher

All my genealogy experience is in the UK and Canada but I'm trying to track down a great aunt Laura Alice Bond who married and moved to Washington state, Seattle area. Not knowing her married name, I've been searching the census records and I think I've found a likely candidate in 1910/20/30: Laura Alice Lawrence, b 1882, England married to Eugene Lawrence, b 1875 Maryland with children Josephine E born 1909 and Edward Thomas b 1912 both in King county.
What I am looking for is some type of record showing Laura's maiden name to confirm I have the correct family. I'm not sure where to look or which US records would be likely to have this information. Can anyone suggest a likely record and a source (online if possible) where I could access the information?

(Thanks to the familysearchlabs.org) I have looked for this, in 3 counties, for seven years! He died 18 July 1936 in Seattle. Where might I find an obit or probate, or any other records, for that matter?

I know he was in Long Beach, Los Angeles Couny, CA until 1930 (per the census.)

I have very little information on this branch.
Frank Poor b, Jan 1900 in Belleview, IL
married Mary E. abt 1922 somewhere in WA, probably in Island County. Mary b, abt 1900 in Iowa.
1930 census for Frank & Mary in Island County shows:
Frank: age 29
Mary: wife/age 30
Francis S: son/6
Archie A: son/4 & 7mns (puts him born abt Sep 1925)
Robert E: son/2 & 5mns
Eugene R: son/ 4mns

Frank's parents were Allen Poor & Eliza Olive Heavner of Pike Co., IL.

I found possible references to Frank & his brother Jack in the Seattle newspapers in the late 1930's-1960's, but also find reference to a Mrs. Jack Poor in the Centralia newspapers.

Have an SSDI for an Archie Poor who died in Seattle May 1978 with DOB as 3 Aug 1925.

I would assume with all the kids being born in the late 20's and possible some more in the early 30's that many may still be alive.

Any help that can be offered is greatly appreciated!
Lori Z.

Hello!
I am searching for a relative who emigrated from Norway sometime after 1900. His Norwegian name was Karl Johansen, which can be Americanized into Carl Johnson. He was born about 1885, and came from Hvaler, Østfold near the Swedish border. His father was Swedish, Johannes Anderson. His mother was Norwegian.

I have found a "candidate" in Seattle, by the name of Carl Johnson in the censuses from 1920 and 1930. He was married to Edith and had one daugther Evelyn (or Evalyn) born about 1923.

Any information on Carl, Edith or Evalyn is appreciated, so I can verify whether I'm on the right track or not!

Cheers,
Jon-Inge Paulsen
Bergen, Norway

I am looking for any information on P.M. BORSHEIM and Sarah BORSHEIM. Their gravesites are located in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Seattle. Also there is Iver O. BORSHEIM. These are my gr. gr. grandparents and family. They were born in Norway, lived and farmed in Rock Twp., Mitchell Co., Iowa, then moved to the Seattle area soon after 1895. They also had some children living in Hoquiam, Grays Harbor area: Edna Jones, Emma Borsheim, Belle Jackman, and Louis Borsheim. Any info regarding these people would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
