Surnames: Carlson, Depew
I am looking for any info on Constance b 1921, and Jacqueline b. 1923 Carlson, daughters of Carl A. and Adaline Carlson. They divorced, sometime before 1930. I found them living seperatly in the '30 census. Their daughters were living with Thomas and Elizabeth Russell. I don't know how they connect. I have a pic of Adaline in the '60s at my great grandparents house, Ollie(Carlson) and Hubert Depew. Ollie is Carl's brother, and it says with her husband Drell Leedy. There are no pics of Carl from that time frame. The last one in the albums I have is from the early 40's from the looks of it.

--From Given information---
The 1930 Census for Seattle, King County, owning at 6708 21st NW. enumerated April 18.
Thomas L. Russell, 47, born in Wisconsin, Truck Driver/Health Dept
Elizabeth F, 37, born in Kansas
Mary H. 16, born in WA
Constance G. Carlson, 9, (census date April 18, so if age is accurate, she would have been born between April 19, 1920, to April 17, 1921)
Jacqueline M. 7, (born between April 19, 1922, to April 17, 1923)
--In 1920, Thomas, Elizabeth and Mary, were list as living in the same residence. His mother, Mary A, age 71, also in the home.
--Based on finding the family of Carl; and the background of Adeline, I can not see any connection to this family. It is "possible" they were friends, or the girls were placed in the home.

That is all the "Known" information given. When you post, it is very important to post the information you have. The age of Carl and Adeline (note spelling is adEline, not adAline). Their dates of birth, if you have them would have seriously helped. I had to look for other postings of yours in order to find the family of Carl, in order to find HIM in 1930. The 1930 census identified his age and then a search found where he was in 1920. That lead to finding Adeline in 1920 (with him), which identified HER age and information. Then finding her in 1930. So, when you post, post the information on who you seek, but especially for female children, post the information on the parents. That helps to find the children.

The research and findings:

--In another posting, you wrote: "Their parents divorced and were living seperate, their mother Adaline,in a different boarding house and their father Carl with his sister, my great grandmother Ollie Depew and her husband Hubert."
In the 1930 Census for Seattle, I find
Charles Depew, 32, born in WA
Ollie Depew, age 32, born in WA to both parents born in Sweden,
Hubert was an 11 year old son,
Roy was a 7 year old son.
no Carl present. But, based on below, it appears Ollie was his sister, but married to Charles, Hubert being a son.

--In another posting, you wrote: "Ernest (Bull) Carlson married to Ida Matson, had sons Roy and Carl, worked for the Northern Pacific RR".
The 1930 Census for Seattle, enumerated April 5th:
Ernest C. Carlson, age 62, born in Finland, immigrated 1887, carpenter/R.R. Bridge. Owning at 1527 West 64th Street
Ida M, age 62, born in Finland, imm in 1888
Carl A. age 37, divorced, Patrolman/Merchant Patrol
--so Carl was born sometime from April 6, 1892 to April 4, 1893
I don't know if they also had a son Roy, or just Ollie.

So, now finding Carl, the 1920 Census for Seattle, enum. 7 January 1920
Carl A. Carlson, age 26, born in WA to both parents born in Finland, sheet metal/sheet metal helper, renting at 318 Roanoke
Adeline(as spelled) K?, age 20, born in California to both parents born in Switzerland.
--Her middle initial appeared to be a K.

SO, now with more info on Adeline
The 1930 Census for Seattle
Adeline Carlson, age 29, born in Calif to both parents born in Switzerland, bookkeeper/Dept Store
living as a boarder in the home of Mary VanDausen?
--No middle initial identified.

For "Drell", there were only 16 of them in the 1930 census, none named Leedy. The Social Security Death Index has 12, none named Leedy.

The Social Security Death Index:
Adeline K. Leedy, born 12 Oct 1899, died 5 April 2001. Her last residence in Seattle, King County. She obtained her Social Security Number, 532-24-9001 in Washington before 1951. You can obtain a copy of her application, an exact image for $27.00, a computer extract for $18.00. It would identify the names of her parents, and possibly "other names used".

Now, with a potential Adeline found, request her obituary:
The Washington State Library has a free research service, the ask-a-librarian program, where they will look for information in the archives, in this case the newspaper microfilm for an event, such as an obituary. They will look up to an hour and send you the results. Contact them at: http://www.secstate.wa.gov/library/ask.aspx .

This obituary "should" identify her daughters and their married names.

The King County Recorder has six recorded documents for Adeline K. Leedy from 1981 to 1986. The documents involve property/deeds to Faye M. and E.J. Garneau; and, Patricia J and Gordon Cheadle. They could be just normal transfers of property due to sales, or transfer to daughters. Keep these names in mind in the event they appear in the obituary. If the obituary is not found, keep them in mind for potential contacts.

I find an undated address for Adeline K. Leedy at 11 W. Aloha #333, Seattle, WA. It is probably an apartment.

A WRONG lead for Connie, leaving it here in the event someone else finds them
John D. Rost
John Dale Rost of Renton died Nov. 16, 2005, in Bellevue. He was 82.
Born Feb. 18, 1923, in Stephen, Minn., he served in the Army for four years and married Connie Carlson on July 2, 1952. He lived in the Renton area for 66 years.
--Additional record search shows Connie with middle initial "I".

Thanks for the reply, sorry about the lapses in content in my earlier posts. Ernest and Ida did have a son names Roy E. Carlson. He died at age 16 in an accidental shooting in 1922, and my grandfather Roy E Depew is named for him. I have an obit in an old family album and the firearm in the incident is still in the family. I don't know why in the 1930 census my great grandfather is listed as Charles, but everything else matches up. Ernest and Ida also had two other daughters, Sadie and Hazel, so by 1930 they had no underage children at home, just Carl living with them. Carl is listed in Ollie obit, as I have a copy, as living--that was 1966. I have been in contact with Hazel's granddaughter, but she does not have much information. Thanks for the information, and I will look further in the new directions you posted
