Hi Barbara,
My name is Ceilna and I am searching the Knettle family tree. I have ancestors that may have originated or migrated from Garfield Coo. Wa. I just started this search and this is all I have.
Hiram Wesley Knettle (b. ? ) (d. 1988 in Florida) Married to Leona Osherhosky. She is still living. Hiram Wesley Knettle was married before her and had children. I am still getting this information. I do know that Hiram had brothers by the name of "LEROY" Knettle & "Earl" Knettle. Hirams parents are unknow at this point except I know his mothers name was "Violla" but I don't know her last name.

If you have more information on your listing of "Leroy" Knettle I would love to hear from you. From what I've heard, someone in the family was a General in an early war. Not sure yet.

Hi Robert,
Its been a couple of years since you last posted this, have you been able to find the information you are seeking?

There is a correction to be made though. The Knettle that married (2) Myra Benson is Leroy N. Knettle b. Sep. 14, 1880 Columbia, WA - d. Mar. 15, 1956 Colfax, WA buried in Pomery, WA. m. (1) Agness Estella Kindlay. There are 2 children of his first marriage and 6 to his second.

I with the help of others are documenting the decendants of the Knettle line, please let me know if you are interested in helping with the research.

I have more information if you are interested. You can also e-mail me direct at celinaj@bellatlantic.net.

I strongly suspect that the Earl Knettle in the article about the accident, was the son of Nora E. Knettle and Mary May Davis. Their son, Earl T. Knettle was born in Flora, Indiana on 26 Aug 1901 and died in Fort Wayne, Indiana on 2 April 2002 at the age of nearly 101. His mother, Mary, lived to be 99 years old, and her mother lived to be nearly 100 years old too. I'm researching the Davis side. One of Mary's brothers was my wife's grandfather.

Would it be possible to get more information on Earl and his parents or any other? I would like to link Earl into one of the 8 possible Knettle family tree's I am working on. I am thinking that he may be a descendant of Jacob Knettle but I can't be sure since there is no Earl in this line yet. Can you help? I can exchange more information once there is a connection somewhere.
Thank you in advance. Celina

(I don't know how or why, but a previous message I was composing went out before I was done with it. Will try again.) Knettle is not a major branch of my research, but is connected with the Davis branch of my wife. Mary May Davis, b. 25 Dec 1975 in Flora, Carroll County, Indiana, married Nora E. Knettle in Flora on 01 Dec 1897 and died in June 1974 in Fort Wayne, Allen County, Indiana. Nora E. Knettle was born in Indiana in June of 1875 to parents John A. Knettle, b. IN, Sept 1847 and Sara E. Cunningham b. IN, Sept 1856. Nora and Mary had 2 children in Flora, Indiana: Pauline b.Sept of 1899, d. ?, and Earl b. 26 Aug 1901 d. 2 April 2002 in Fort Wayne, Allen County, Indiana. (I have a copy of Earl's obituary from a Fort Wayne paper.) Earl is survived by daughters Kathleen A. Hemily of Hudsonville, MI, Jane E. Wells of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Linda S. Johnson of Monroeville, IN and Marjorie L. Knettle of San Francisco, CA; a son, John R. Knettle of Davis, CA; grand and great grandchildren and his wife, Justine I. Knettle.

Hope this is of some help to you, Celina - one way or another.

Ron

Thank you, Thank you! You helped a great deal. You helped add missing pieces to the tree in connection to John A. Knettle. I was not aware of who he married nor his children. John A. Knettle is the s/o Jacob N. Knettle & Phoebe Dick both of Pennsylvania. Jacob was born Feb 26, 1815 possibly Cumberland Co., Pennsylvania and died 15 Jan 1900 I believe in Carroll Co., IN. Phoebe July 11, 1821 in PA to 12 Feb 1857 in IN. I checked some of my records and found that Jacob had a Harrison Davis age 23 living with him in 1880. I wonder how this Harrison Davis connects to Mary. My main goal is to connect Jacob to the Cumberland County, PA Knettles dating back to the early 1600's as well as document his descendants. If there is anything else you would like to share or I can share with you, please e-mail me direct at celinaj@bellatlantic.net. I may be able to help more on your wife's Knettle Ancestors.

Thanks again,
Celina

I have been researching the Jacob Knettle (1815-1900) branch. Have lots of photos of the Knettle Cemetery Carroll County Indiana. FYI- There is a fabulous photo of Jacob Knettle on the Carroll County Historical Societies web site! Would love to hear from others researching the Knettle Tree. Tks, Kim
PS- Jacob Knettle married Phebe Dix. I have not been able
to locate any info on the Dix tree.
