POMEROY -- Charles Hubach, a retired Pomeroy farmer, died Wednesday of pneumonia at Garfield County Hospital Long Term Care here. He was 91.
He was born June 4, 1906, to Louis and Mellie Benskin Hubach at Judsonia, Ark.
He went to school in Arkansas and worked on the family farm for many years.
He married Gracie Wilson Aug. 6, 1931. They moved to Merced, Calif., in 1936. They farmed and raised turkeys until retirement in 1971.
After his wife died in 1974, he moved to Monroe, Wash. He married Evelyn Hegi on July 28, 1978 in Monroe. Pomeroy was his home for the past 20 years.
He enjoyed gardening, fishing, watching baseball games, especially the Atlanta Braves, listening to country music and spending time with his grandchildren.
His survivors include a son, Robert Hegi of Phoenix; a daughter, Marlane Hegi Schilling of Pomeroy; 14 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two adopted children, Hanford Hubach and Viva Jean Huback, and nine brothers and sisters.
A memorial service will be held in Pomeroy at the Richardson-Brown Funeral Home at a later date. Inurnment at Pomeroy City Cemetery will follow.
