Lotta Adelia Peckham

I am looking for the death date and burial place of Lotta Adelia Johnson Peckham. She was born in Lowell, Kent, Michigan in 1890 and married Walter Leland Peckham in Michigan. They moved to Kahlotus, Washington and had at least six children there. As far as I can tell, they lived there for the remainder of their lives. I have been to the Kahlotus Cemetery and have found other members of the family, including her husband. However, there is no stone or record for her. Can anyone check this out for me.

I grew up in Connell Washington as did my father. I was just snooping around on the message boards and found your message. I don't know of Victor Osburn myself but I will ask my dad to look into this for you. In fact, my sister used to work at the Golden Harvest Cafe in the 80's--a point of interest. I'll see if we can find out who the owners of the Golden Harvest Cafe were back then.

Alvin W Pentecost, 73, of Kennewick, died Dec 31, 1990, at Kennewick General Hospital. He was born August 7, 1917, in Abiline, Kansas.
Alvin moved to Washington in 1945 from Nebraska. He spent 4 years in the service during WWII in Germany. He was a member of the operatoring (sic) engineers Local No. 370. He was a member of the Moose Lodge for 40 years. His hobby was race car driving in 1950's. He also enjoyed fishing, and traveling.
He is survived by his wife, Alene (sic) Pentecost of Kennewick, WA; step-sons Robert Stewart of Rainer, WA, Bill Stewart of Portland, OR, Kerry Steward of Primeville, OR, and Lester Myers of Pasco, WA; step-daughters, Ginger Gunning of Benton City, WA; brothers, Dallas Pentecost of Kennewick and Joe Pentecost of Goldendale, WA; 10 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by both parents, his first wife Emma, 2 sisters and 2 brothers.
Services will be held Friday, Jan. 4, 1991, at 11:00 a.m. at Mueller's Tri-Cities Funeral Home at 1401 S Union, Kennewick. Burial will be in the Desert Lawn Memorial Park, Pasco. VFW will be conducting the graveside rites. Visitation's may be made Wednesday from 12 p.m. - 5 p.m., Thursday 9 a.m. - 8 p.m. and Friday 9 - 10:30 a.m. at Tri-Cities Funeral Home.

Alvin died 31 Dec 1990, Benton Co., WA. You can request a copy of his obituary from the Washington State Library, www.secstate.wa.gov/library/ask.aspx . They will search the newspaper microfilm up to 60 minutes at no charge. They will email the obit to you or tell you where they searched. Takes about two weeks.

An Emma Pentecost b. 16 May 1919 died June 1979. Her soc. sec. # was assigned in Kansas before 1951. Source: Social Security Death Index, www.ancestry.com.

They don't say where she died. I looked in the Washington State Digital Archives and didn't find her death record there either. Hopefully Alvin's will tell you more about where Emma died. Successful Searching!

From the Findagrave website at www.findagrave.com I found a listing for a Jessie Richard Mitchell buried at Columbia Memorial Gardens in Pasco. Oh - and there is also a listing for a Hazel Irene Hall Mitchell. Check it out.

You will still probably want an obituary, but hopefully the above information will make one easier to obtain.

Jessie Richard Mitchell Born: 1904 in Oklahoma Died: 1972 in Pasco, Franklin Co. Washington
I know that he was in a care home there for some time before he died.

His wife was: Hazel Irene Mitchell Born: 20 Sep 1907 Died: 20 March 1994 in Pasco, Franklin Co. Washington Her maiden name was Hall.

They lived in Kennewick, Wa.

Now, after Jessie Richard Mitchell died, Hazel remarried and her name became: Lauritzen

I thought I could get Richard Jessie Mitchell's death certificate from family search.org but it is not available. They are not available everywhere. That way, I could get
the name of the cemetery where they were buried.

Susie....'Lucky' Star 1965

I’m making a scrapbook for my mother, Susie Stull. I would like to include newspaper photos, but can’t find the one I’m looking for. It was during the West Richland flood of 65. The picture shows mom with her horse ‘Lucky’ after she waded through the frigid waters of the Yakima, and younger brother Steve is also mentioned saving cows.

Does anyone perhaps know why this fabulous photo didn’t make it into the online archives at ancestry?

I would like to get an original copy of this photo to include in the scrapbook. If anyone has any other photos of her (or certain special items), please let me know. Any help is welcome.

I remember my mother talking about "Fronie" Pruett. Apparently she was quite a character. There is still quite a sizable Pruett family in and around the Connell, WA. area. My mother Ellen Heard Stone Davison was related to the Gipson family thru marriage. I cannot provide allot of information. However, I will provide what I Know.

Marjorie M Sundergelt

Marjorie M Sundergelt, 72, passed away Sept 22, 1995 at Our Lady of Lourdes Health Center of Pasco.
Marjorie was born Dec 21, 1919 at Aurta (?), Iowa.
At the age of three, Marjorie and her mother, Pauline Frederick, moved to Renton, Wash. It was in Renton that she attended grade school and high school.
One highlight of her young life while growing up in Renton was to ride with President Roosevelt when he visited in 1934.
On Sep 26, 1944 Marjorie and Edward Sundergelt were married. After which time she continued tuning her love and skills for dogs and horses; training breeding, researching champion dogs obedience and raising and racing horses from Canada to Mexico.
In the 1970s, Marjorie and Edward moved to Eltopia and became a member of the LDS Columbia Basin Ward where she was loved and loved all the people who touched her life.
She is survived by her husband Edward Sundergelt.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 26, 1995, at the LDS Columbia Basin Ward Chapel, 7750 Eltopia West Road. Viewing will be 10 a.m. at the church prior to services.
Memorials may be made to the ?? Cancer Center, 7350 W Deschutes, Kennewick, WA 99336.
Mueller Greenlee Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

This presentation of obedience classes is in preparation to acquaint citizens of the area to a dog show to be staged at the fair grounds some weeks after the fair"

As to the name, it "appears" German ? So, I looked for Sundergeldt, Sundergeld, etc. This "might" be connected, one of this family spelled the name as Sundergelt.

He was born in Groveland, Idaho, and had been a resident of Pasco for 15 years.

Lloyd Clinton Vooge, 58, of 4913 Bumpaous Road, Pasco, died Friday of a heart attack while traveling near Loredo, Mont.

He was born in Cando, N.D., and moved to the Tri-Cities from North Dakota in 1935.

He married his wife Shirley in November 1949 in Bisbee, N.D.

Vooge was a metal fabricator for Douglas United Nuclear. His hobbies included reading and gardening. He was a member of the Hanford and Atomic Metal Trade Union, and a member of Moose Lodge No. 482 in Pasco.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley, Pasco; daughters Lyla Graham, Roxetta Ruscher and Barbara Sall, all of Pasco; sons David, Kennewick, and Daryl and Jeffrey, both of Pasco; and 14 grandchildren.

Services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Greenlee Funeral Home, Pasco. Burial will follow at City View Cemetery, Pasco.

Visitation will be Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Thursday from 9 a.m. until service time at Greenlee Funeral Home.

Memorials may be sent to Tourettes Foundation in care of the funeral home.

Greenlee Funeral Home is making the arrangements.

Thank you for that information! My suspicions are that Alice Johnson married this Vooge--perhaps Jorgan, I don't know the proper first name because the 1930 census is so hard to read. Alice is a descendant of Samuel Flower who was born in Ohio. I am a descendant of Samuel's brother Henry, so it is very exciting to discover this branch of the family! The 1910 Census for Johnson, Towner County, shows Jergen Vooge and Edwin Vooge as sons of John and Veselic Vooge, both born in Norway.

The World War I Draft Registration Card image database shows Jorgen Vooge, born in Bisbee, ND on February 13, 1896, living in Towner County, ND. He was single, a farmer. He was tall, medium in build, blue eyes and brown hair.

The 1920 census for Johnson, Towner Co:
Jorgen Vooge, head, age 23, single
Cecelia, mother age 57, "d" for divorced, immigrated 1886 from Norway
Edwin, brother, age 17.

I did a search for ANY Alice, born 1900 plus/minus 2 years in North Dakota, having a father born in Norway, mother in Ohio. Only one came up:

Ole Johnson, age 53, born in Norway, immigrated in 1885. farmer.
Edith, age 40, born in Ohio to both parents born in Ohio

The name Vooge being Norwegian, I'll add: I'm a member of the Norway List, it offers a mailing list. I've been on it for over 10 years now, a lot of the others also have been on it for years. We are like a family. It is probably one of the most active mailing lists on Rootsweb. We find lost families all over the world. For us Americans, we find the emigrant in Norway. For the name Vooge, it's probably a farm name. Before about 1910, Norwegians didn't have surnames as we know them. They had a naming system called "Patronymics". A child received a Given name at birth, then his "surname" was the first name of his father followed by "SEN" for son. Example, if Ole Hansen had a son Iver, he would be named Iver Olsen. If Ole had a daughter Lena, she would be Lena Olsdatter and would be so called the rest of her life. With so many Ole Hansen, they had to have something to distinguish them by, so they added their address, their farm name. So if Ole Hansen lived on the Vooge farm, he would be Ole Hansen Vooge. A number of immigrants into America kept their farm name as their surname.

First for your safety, you shouldn't post your phone number.

As a retired long term career in law enforcement, I would whole-heartedly recommend you go through a professional. Someone licensed if possible. If not licensed, at least someone that can handle their own safety, security and potential lawsuits, other than a well meaning person with genealogy interest.

I don't know if this is a divorce issue, or what, but, be very careful when trying to find lost family. The father may be just fine, or there could be a history of criminal records, drug/alcohol addictions, mental illness, etc. Or the children of this person could have criminal records, drug addictions, mental illness. The siblings may not want an "outsider" to come into the picture.

Ask someone in your family for information or help.

James 'Jim' L. Sowers

James "Jim" Lee Sowers, 80, of Pasco, died May 19 in Richland.
He was born in Spokane and lived in the Tri-Cities for two years.
He was a retired county supervisor for the U.S. Department of Agriculture/Farmers Home Administration in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.
Mueller's Greenlee Funeral Home, Pasco, is in charge of arrangements.

I don't have too much. I've done some research for a Don Cress that his grandparents or greatgrandparents are Love and Potter. They were in the Pasco area.

Hi JoLyn, check out the cemeteries at www.rootsweb.com/~wafrank/cemeteries.htm and www.interment.net. If you don't find Roy there contact the local genealogy society at www.tricitygenealogysociety.org.

For a copy of Roy's obituary send an email to askalibrarian@secstate.wa.gov with his name, death date and place. They will search the newspaper microfilm for free for one hour and email the results to you.

Send an email to askalibrarian@secstate.wa.gov with the name of deceased, when and where they died. They will search the newspaper microfilm for one hour for free & email you with what they find.

Also I researched a McClure/Shoop family in Adams County and posted the response on that Message Board. Don't know if they're related to yours or not.

I'm not related. Just like to help people out if I can.

Pauline is listed as the daughter of James McClure, Quincy, in his obit in April 1980. James is my father's half brother. I have early information on this fractured family. The SSDI Index lists James' wife, Viola McClure has having passed away in Pasco 23 Nov 1993. Would like obit if possible and would like to hear from anyone related to this family. Thanks so much--will look up Oregon information if you need it.
