Hi Rose,
I found Milford and Anna's marriage license in the Washington State Digital Archives but I didn't find anything definite about them which surprizes me since they married in 1908.

I checked the Wenatchee Area Genealogy Society's index of Chelan and Douglas County cemeteries but didn't find Anna or Milford Sanford.

I did find an Anna Sanford b. 10 Dec 1884, Last Residence=Spokane, WA 99216 who died September 1969. Her soc. sec. # was assigned in WA in 1964. Source: Social Security Death Index, www.ancestry.com.

I found an Allyn M. Sanford b. abt. 1890 who died in Spokane 13 Jan 1948 per death cert #1395. Source: WA Death Index 1940-96, www.ancestry.com.

I'd look up Anna Sanford's obituary first since that's the more promising name. You can request a copy of an obituary in Spokane County from Random Acts Genealogical Kindness, www.raogk.org, read instructions, choose Washington, choose Spokane County, Becky.

If that doesn't work out, the Washington State Library, www.secstate.wa.gov/library/ask.aspx , will look for an obituary up to 60 minutes at no charge in the newspaper microfilm. They will email you about what they do or don't find and it takes about two weeks.

I'm also trying to find out about the town of Hicksville that they were married in. Successful Searching!

Rose,
What additional do you know about these two? A date of birth, place of birth would help. If you have knowledge of Anna after he died, "Died before 1920", that might help. The Marriage Certificate is typed, thus not subject to handwriting evaluation, but there could have been a typo or other errors. Milford could have been Wilford? Sanford as Sandford? Any additional you have might help.

The Bureau of Land Management has a database for Land purchased under the Homestead Act:
http://www.glorecords.blm.gov/
Click on "Search Land Patents".
It shows a John Zickler obtaining 160 acres of land in Grant County on 9/21/1908. The land was in the Willamette Meridian, Township 22-North, Range 30-East, Section 34, the SW corner. I can show you how to find this property if there is a connection.
--The 1910 Census for Krupp, Grant Co, WA
John Zickler, age 41, born in Germany
Anna, 36, born in Germany, mother of 6, 4 living.
follows are four children, none were Anna, one was Elsie age 16, per an online family tree, she married a Booker C. James.
--A son was William Zickler, a William Zickler was a witness to the marriage, but this one was born in 1896, making him 12 by 1908.
Census enumerated 10-12 May.
--There were other Zickler's in Grant County in the 1910 Census, but difficult to determine which

There was no purchase by a Milford/WIlford/etc. Sanford; but there was one for Frank, if that was his middle name, of 80 Acres on 4/11/1912.

There was a William Zickler, born 1889 in Montana, living in Everett, WA in the 1910 Census. In the 1900 Census, he was living in Gem, Shoshone County, Idaho, with siblings and parents Louis and Annie Zickler. Was this Annie, his mother, who married Sanford? This Annie was born April 1865 in Germany.

Other than that, any attempt without further identification of your known facts would only be speculation. There is no proof given that they lived after 1908 in Hicksville, or taking it further, that they lived in Washington. You may have additional to help resolve this block.
