Thank you for your research and suggestions. I do have obituaries for Chris and Meta Hansen which seem to confirm the other information I provided. My main interest is the parents of Meta given, as you noted, in the state index as Marisness and Esther. I found Meta in the 1900 Census in Seattle with a Marinus Lassen, probably her father (he listed as widowed). In the 1910 and 1920 Census she is living with Hans and Annie Lassen in Hayward, Calif., they being her adoptive parents. I suspect Hans was a brother of Marinus. I have found no death or burial record for Marinus or his wife Esther. Meta's obituary said she was born in Sacramento, Calif., in 1897. That is about all I have. Thanks again.
