The Social Security Death Index lists persons that have died whose deaths were reported to the Social Security Administration.

The "last residence" is not necessarily where a person lived. It could be the address where the Death Benefit was sent, today about $255.00, to a spouse or other person that paid for burial, funeral home/Attorney/etc. It also could be just from a notification of their death. It is not necessarily where they lived, it "usually is; but it is NOT a exact address identifier. A death certificate may have been sent to the Social Security Administration identifying the person died.

So, in this case, Margaret Allmon may have died in Walla Walla and had lived in Dayton, or lived in Walla Walla, died in Walla Walla, but the Dayton address came into play as being for a family member, the funeral home, etc. You CAN NOT assume until the facts are proven.

ALSO, The Social Security Administration is NOT responsible for the SSDI. It is based on the SSA's Master Death Index. It is NOT based on death of persons having a Social Security Number. The Master Death Index is SOLD to various parties that use the data for their own SSDI. Many believe the SSDI has all the deaths of persons having a SSA, this is NOT true. You can also find a person on one of the SSDI listings, but not another.
