Edna Plummer died 2-10-1985 in Clark COunty Washington. SHe is buried with her husband in the National Cemetery in Oregon. John Hiram Plummer died 6-13-1970 also in Clark County.

Thank you. Actually, it is Erina not Emma and Donya rather than Donga. I knew the records existed but I didn't know how or where to find them. The transcriber must have made and error as I saw Donya translated as Dominga on a relative's tree and I couldn't figure out where it came from. Probably from the online record.

When an automobile driven by her son went over the bank near Vancouver, Washington, late yesterday, Mrs. Olive E. Laing of Seattle was instantly killed, according to Associated Press dispatches. B.W. Laing, the son, 1308 30th Avenue South and his wife and 2 year old daughter received only minor injuries.

The Laings were en route to Portland to spend Thanksgiving Day with Mrs. B.W. Laing’s mother, Mrs. Anna Hopkins, 306 Holliday Avenue, Portland, when their car went over the bank of Vancouver and dropped thirty five feet to the creek bed.

Mr. Laing is the proprietor of Laing's Garage, 3007 Judkins Street.

Vancouver, Washington, November 25. Olive E. Laing was killed instantly today, when an automobile driven by her son, B.W. Helen J. Pagel, a retired teacher who worked in the Ridgefield School District, died Sunday, July 11, 2004, at Southwest Washington Medical Center.

She was 90.

Mrs. Pagel, whose maiden name was Beach, was born December 20, 1913, in Bryan, Missouri.

She lived in Vancouver for 60 years and was a member of the Clark County Historical Society.

She enjoyed traveling with her husband.

Survivors include her husband of 64 years, Joseph T., at home; one son, Thomas L. of Vancouver; one sister, Rosalie Simpson of Seattle; and twin granddaughters.

Private family services will be held at a later date. Vancouver Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Clark County Historical Society, 1511 Main Street, Vancouver, Washington 98660.

There are many records online for Washington state, including marriages from 1907. You may see the witnesses recorded, and may or may not see parents names. Sometimes you get the application and the license itself, and sometimes just the license.

Also, try looking for them in the Washington death index at www.familysearch.org
Search with their first name, and put in parents surnames.

You will have better luck if you post on a board where other potential researchers might see it. You can start with the Maxon surname board , or the Barton County Kansas board, where they lived in 1880.
You will also need to include more information, including birthdates for Olive and Maud, even a guess can help. The original poster may know information on your Maxom's or they may be completely unrelated. Good luck!

I am not sure how this fits into your family story. It is possible he was in Orchards (perhaps looking into some cattle for his business) and was found after he had a heart attack. He then could have been taken to Portland for Autopsy. The address of the institution, it says County, so I am not sure if that means a county hospital, or the county coroner's office.

The info that Barbdale gave you about the possibility of the death being in Oregon appears correct. In the Oregon death index on Ancestry.com you find:

Which is:
Name: Hans A Hansen
Death Date: 16 Nov 1948
Death Place: Multnomah
Certificate: 12614

With the date on his headstone being 17 Nov 1948, it would seem very likely that this is a match.

My husband's grandfather worked for Limber's in the late 1920s. They show up in the Vancouver City directory for several years. The directory is here at ancestry.com. That's all I know, as grandfather opened up his own funeral home in the 1930s.

source for death was Crawford Cemetery clark Co. This has been a mystery to the family also. I know he had property in Portland and that he was a starter for the races. The gun was some sort of a blunderbuss (starter gun)and when he was found in the barn in Orchards the gun was in his hand and had been fired. Looked for police reports and newspaper obits, nothing. All of this was just about when Vanport went out. Pictures of rowboats over the stables. He was well like and well known in the area. Thank you for helping...this bothers me that the clue is right in front of me and I can't guite see it!

What is your source for his death date? I am not finding him in the Washington death index. There is a Hans A. Hansen that died in Multnomah County Oregon in 1948, but no month is given. (from the Oregon death index at www.familysearch.org) Is it possible he was alive when found, and was taken to a hospital in Portland? I searched the Oregonian, but couldn't find an article.

Marriages - Was Clark county like Las Vegas?

So many of my family members who were living in Oregon got married in Vancouver, WA. This would be from about 1920-1940. Why would they travel from Salem to Vancouver to get married? This has had me puzzled. Was Clark county like Las Vegas where couples could get married quickly (get a license and married on the same day)? I'm not sure about the marriage regulations for Oregon but perhaps they had a waiting period between getting the license and the actual marriage.

Looking for descendants of Clayton C. Brooks. His father was Sylvester H. Brooks. Clayton was born Jan 1851 in Waltz, Wabash Co., Indiana and was living in Yale, Cowlitz Co., Washington in 1900 and in Portland, Multnomah Co., Oregon in 1910 and his occupation was listed as a shoemaker.
I am the great granddaughter of Clayton's brother Joseph Tiffin Brooks.

If it helps, William was born on September 19, 1917 in Crow Wing County. His Mother's name was Amelia Miller - she married William M. Beaver on November 1, 1915 in Crow Wing. I searched for a person named Beaver or Beavers in the social security death index, born on that day in 1917, but didn't find him.

I only found William I. Beavers in 1920 living with his parents in Mission, Crow Wing, MN.
Wm M. Beavers, b. NE, 27, laborer home farm.
Aurelia M., wife, b. KS, 27.
Wm I., b. MN 2 3/12ths.

In 1930 William M. and family were living in Mission.
William M. Beavers, b. NE, 37, farmer own farm.
Blanche M., wife, b. MN, 22.
Margaret M., b. MN, 5.
Jerry H., b. MN, 3 7/12ths.

It looks like William M. was married to Aurelia, divorced and then married Blanche. William I. doesn't appear with his father in any of the other Census info nor does he appear in the other Censuses.

Maybe Aurelia married and changed her and William Isaac's surname?

I didn't find Viola or the children but didn't expect too since the most recent Census is the 1940 Census.

I checked the Washington State Digital Archives but they don't have anything for a William Isaac Beaver*. Successful Searching!
