The grave site of Francis S Tisdale is marked in the small light house keepers' cemetery on Tatoosh Island, one of two known grave sites on the island. The rough wooden marker reads "Francis S Tisdale 11 Jul 1917" in black paint on a white paint background.
Francis was the infant son of Clifford H Tisdale, later postal carrier of Port Angeles, and his wife the former Helen J Callahan. The Tisdales resided on Tatoosh Island from 1916 to 1918 according to Helen's 1973 obituary. Little Francis was apparently born and died the same day, so the Washington Birth Index does not assign him a name, nor is there a death certificate for him (probably recorded as a stillbirth). He had six brothers and sisters, all born in Washington. His father was a World War One veteran and a first generation immigrant from Northern Ireland. Both of the parents of Francis, and other relatives, are buried at Mount Angeles Cemetery in Port Angeles.
