Anybody still following this thread? I'm really interested in the woman who said that her niece descends from Edgar Leonard Pearsall, as the Clarence Pearsall's genealogy says he died at age 25.

Abiel Goble:
The Saints Herald, Vol. 36, pg. 431 : GOBLE.-Abiel Goble departed this life May 5th, 1889. He was stopping with his son during his sickness in Nez. Perces (sic) county, Idaho, where he died with his family to witness his last moments. He was a sufferer till death brought relief. His last hours were borne with great patience; and death would have been welcome much sooner if the Lord had so willed it. He was born in Pennsylvania, October 12,1819, and was aged 69 years and seven months. He was a member of the First Day Advents. He leaves a wife, four daughters, and one son to mourn their loss till they meet in the resurrection morn. His remains were brought to his home in Asotin county, Washington Territory, where he has resided for years. Funeral services by S. Rice, Adventist.
Seeking descendants of Cyrus Warren

I am seeking information about the descendants of Cyrus Warren who migrated to Southeast Washington in the 1870’s.

Cyrus married Emeline/Amelia/Emily Hartung, a native of Germany in 1845.

He had a daughter, Julia Abigail, born c.1846 in Ohio. All his other children were born in Lawrence County, Missouri.

In the 1870’s his sons Jason and John Cyrus migrated to Asotin County, Washington. Daughters Ida Jane, Amanda Lois, and Elvira apparently came with them. The mother, Amelia, followed but Cyrus stayed in Missouri and is buried there.

Jason stayed in Asotin County for some time and then moved to Gridley, California.

John Cyrus is buried in Dixie, Walla Walla County, Washington.

Amelia is buried in Peola, Garfield County, Washington

Ida Jane is buried in Idaho.

Amanda is buried in Clarkston, Asotin County, Washington.

Elvira is buried in Spokane, Washington

Emma is buried in Kalispell, Montana.

Any information regarding this Warren line would be greatly appreciated.
First, obituaries were not common back then, so you might not find one.

The Washington State Library has a free research program where they will look for information in the archives, in this case the newspaper microfilm for an event, such as an obituary. They will look up to an hour and send you the results. Contact them at: http://www.secstate.wa.gov/library/ask.aspx . Depending on the amount of requests, it could take up to a couple of weeks.
-If interested you can look at the catalog of holdings at: http://www.secstate.wa.gov/library/microfilm.aspx
You might find this article usefull. I know many of the graves in Asotin were moved from the original cemetary in town to the present location on the hill above town. I know Abiel Goble was buried in Asotin/Asotin Creek but I haven't found it yet.

I also went back through a bunch of my files and found an original article written on Aunt Alice when she turned 80. It tells where she says Grandma Sarah died ---- on the Oregon Trail from Kansas at Burnt River in Baker Co., Oregon. Buried there too. Of course I have no dates or paper name on this article, but it shouldn’t be too hard to figure out.

MRS. DODSON RECALLS EVENTS OF LONG TREK ACROSS PLAINS: Touchet Pioneer, Nearing 80, came from Kansas in 1864 by Wagon Train.
(Under her picture): Mrs. J.W. Dodson crossed the plains in 1864 and has made her home in the “Oregon country” continuously since. For more than a quarter-century she has lived in Touchet, where she celebrated her seventy-ninth birthday anniversary anniversary a few days ago.

To be in her eightieth year, yet physically sound and mentally alert, is the good fortune of Mrs. J.W. Dodson, of Touchet. Further more she has a storehouse of frontier experiences and historical facts about Washington and Oregon that delight an interviewer. In her cozy Touchet home last week she chatted about highlights in a full and complete program of Northwest experiences beginning in 1864 when she, as a child still under five years, arrived in Walla Walla with her parents and other relatives from Kansas.
Her people left Marshall county, Kansas, in the early spring of 1864, starting out as a family unit that joined up with other groups to form a huge train before striking out across the dangerous plains for the Oregon country. The immediate family consisted of Mr. And Mrs. Abiel Goble and four girls, of whom Mrs. Dodson was on of the youngest. Others in the party were Mr. and Mrs. Luther Parsall, parents of Mrs. Goble, who rode in a covered buggy drawn by a mare the full distance. That animal, by the way, lived to be 25 years old, and contributed much to the family’s subsequent comfort in frequent travels in the Northwest.

Aged Person In Party: Another member of the original group was the 80-year-old mother of Abiel Goble, who, ailing from the start, attempted the trip because she refused to be left behind. She held up wonderfully well, but when the train reached Burnt River in Baker County, she joined that innumerable host which met death along the Oregon Trail. She was buried where she died --- reverently, in primitive fashion.
Goble children in that trek were Edith Tate, who died in Walla Walla; Anna Hadley, who died in Walla Walla while quite young, Amanda Hadley, now living in Los Angeles, and Alice Dodson. Two more children were born to the Gobles after reaching the west: Mrs. Jack McDonald, of Touchet, who died recently, and Luther Goble, now living at La Center.

Milch-Cows for Team: Unlike most immigrants, the Gobles used milch cows instead of oxen for locomotive purposes. This was economically sound, because it reduced livestock population. At the end of the day’s trek when yokes were removed, the team was milked for the all-important food. Mrs. Dodson recalls, with a chuckle, that surplus milk after the breakfast was served, was set in the wagon, there to be fully churned by rough going by the time the next camp was struck. Like all pioneer women, Mrs. Dodson has a none too sweet recollection of churns indispensable in pioneer homes, but a great nuisance, nevertheless, to mothers and daughters.

Dodged Indian Trouble: Mrs. Dodson was too young to have many recollections of the journey, but one episode stands out very clearly in her mind today. One evening in the badlands the train came upon the remnants of a massacred immigrant camp. The entire party had been slain or carried away captives the day before---save one man, overlooked by the redskins. He had been scalped and left as dead, but the Gobles found him, rendered what service they could, carried him to the nearest fort where he was treated and recovered.
The Indians had dumped sugar and flour found in the train, on the ground and sage brush, where it created a weird picture that impressed the child Alice in a way that proved indelible.
She also distinctly remembers seeing Court House Rock.

Stopped at Meacham: When the train reached Meacham it was late fall, and they found there a former acquaintance who was running the Summit house.
Father Goble hurried on to Walla Walla but the mother and children remained for a month or so. Finding homes was difficult in Walla Walla in 1864. Ready cash brought from Kansas was badly deflated, adding to the discomforts. Life came the hard way that winter.

Went to Umpqua Valley: The next spring Goble traded some of his milch cows for a horse, which was teamed up with the mare that crossed the plains, and with this equipage, the family departed for the Umpqua Valley in Southern Oregon where they lived three years; they returned to Walla Walla, stayed four years; then back to the Umpqua for a year and again back to Walla Walla in 1873 where they stayed until 1877.
In 1877 they moved to Asotin Creek, before there was any town there, or even any roads. Frontier hardships were again endured.
January 16, 1881, Alice Goble married J.W. Dodson who had come out from Nebraska and Missouri in 1871. The wedding was at Lewiston.

Set up Home in Asotin: It was in the region of Asotin Creek that the Dodsons set up housekeeping. An oddity concerns the birthplaces of the several Dodson children. When they first lived there, the region was part of Columbia county; then it was changed to Garfield; subsequently to Asotin. During these changes all but one of the several children were born in the same house, yet in different counties. Even the lone exception was born only a few miles away. The children were: Perry, Touchet; Henry, Walla Walla; Mrs. Mattie Robinson, Walla Walla; Don, a soldier in the World war, who died a year ago in Marshfield; Mrs. Eva Munns, Touchet.
Twenty-seven years ago the Dodsons moved to Touchet where home was continuously established. Two years ago the husband and father died after 56 years of married life.
His most favored occupation was that of shearing sheep, a trade at which he became noted and in demand from Oregon through Washington and into Montana. Even in advanced age, he was not content until he had taken a turn at shearing each spring.

His daughter Euphrosina b. 1858 in Baden, Germany was married to Franz Joseph Rimmelspacher. They emigrated about 1881. She is to see with her family on the census record you have sent to me (Rimmelspacher Sena). I could not find her on a passengerlist, yet. When they came to America they first settled in Ottumwa, Wapello, Iowa, where three of their children were born.

Cheryl thank you very much. You are an angel.
I wasn't sure about the year of emigration. But this could be him on the passengerlist. His wife died 1887 and his daughter Euphrosina was already in the USA. So he travelled alone. He was born on Dec.27, 1827.
