I looked for obituaries in the Clarkston and Lewiston, Idaho online newspapers. The IMTribune of Lewiston had an Emerson from Clarkston death in 2008, but not the correct person.

I found James J. Emerson, born May 1942 with several addresses in Clarkston. One was 1461 10th Street, phone 509-751-9691, also 1598 Sycamore. At the same address is a Sandra L Emerson, Feb 1938, same phone number.

Yes, that is the correct person. And that is his 3rd wife. However, his daughter has not been able to get anyone to answer the phone. I just confirmed his death for her by searching the SSDI.
I'll pass this on, just in case it is a different phone number.
