Looking for information on Mary Ann (Molly) Shoop McClure and William Shoop. Both died in Adams County abt. 1901. I found information Molly was burried at the Cunningham Cemetary but I cannot verify. Since they died around the same time I wonder if they were burried together. William is Molly's father. William was born in 1836 and Molly in the 1860's. She was married to Edward Franklin McClure in Kansas and they moved to Washington State. Any information would be helpful. Thanks! Joan

William Shoop, b. 1836, OH appears on the 1880 Clifton, Wilson Co, KS Census along with his children, two nephews and a neice. His daughter Mary A. Shoop was born abt. 1866, KS.

A William Shoop b. 12 June 1836, Erie Co., OH died 23 Sep 1905 in Lebannon, Smith Co., KS but I can't verify if this is the same William. However, I didn't find anything about William's death in Adams Co. I checked the obvious cemeteries at www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/wa/adams/adams.htm but not all of them.

Another place to check is the Adams County Court House in Ritzville to see if they have a death cert.

I found a M. A. McClure married to Edward in the 1889 Washington Census. M. A. was female, 22 and born in KS. They were living with Edward's family in Whitman Co., WA.

The 1900 Hatton, Adams Co Census shows Edward F. McClure, b. Aug. 1867, OR, farmer and married 10 yrs. Mary A., wife, b. April 1867, KS, had given birth to 5 children & 5 alive in 1900. All children born in WA. Mable E. b. Feb. 1890, Charles W. b. Aug. 1891; Ralph b. July 1893 John b. April 1895 and Robert b. Dec. 1888.

Mary McClure doesn't appear in the Censuses after 1900. I checked the obvious cemeteries at the rootsweb site mentioned above and she's not there either. However I didn't look at all of them and all of them aren't indexed. Neither she nor her father are in Cunningham.

In 1910 Garfield, Whitman Co., WA Census Edward appears with his family. He has remarried to Lucy T., 41 yrs old. Same list of children.

A Edward F. McClure died 29 June 1942 in Spokane City. He was born abt. 1868 per death cert #853. Source: WA Death Index 1940-1996.

Check with the Heritage Research Center, POBox 293, Ritzville, WA 99169. 509-659-0237

Also there is an Adams County Historical Society with a very new web site www.adamscountyhistoricalsociety.com.

William Shoop, MA's father was born in October. The one in Lebanon, KS is a different William Shoop. Mary Ann (Molly) died in 1901. I have not been able to locate her burial. One website had her at Cunningham Cemetary, but I did not find her in the listings (it appeared it was only a partial listing). William died in 1901 also. I have not found his burial site. We wonder if they were buried on the farm and the graves are not recorded or long gone.

Hi Joan, that's possible but check with the Heritage Research Center and Adams County Historical Society see previous post). Our local genealogy society keeps track of any individual graves in Chelan and Douglas County that we hear about because of these reasons. They might have that info.

Are you sure William was in WA state? I didn't find him in any Census but I relied on the indexes and if Shoop wasn't indexed correctly, I wouldn't find it.

Very few graves at either Hatton or Cunningham are readable. In fact, most of the stones at both cemeteries are long gone.
