Becky, thanks for your very interesting info about your line from Francis
Mason. You got all the exciting men! I am probably descended from both of the other 2 children of Francis(1) qnd Alice, namely Lemuel(2) and Elizabeth(2). Lemuel(2) and Ann Seawell/Sewell had Lemuel(3) and we think his daughter was Elizabeth(4) who married my ancestor, Edward
Walton. Lemuel(3)'s proof is not complete, so if you have dates of birth, marriage or death on him, that would prove his wife & a daughter, Elizabeth(4), b, 1686 in
Lower Norfolk Co, d. 1720 in
New Kent Co., I would appreciate having that. All I have now is that Lemuel(3) was the Overseer of his Father's will and Executor of his Mother's will. I have better proof with Elizabeth(2) married to James Thelaball and their daughter Mary Thelaball who, according to Elizabeth(2)'s will, was married to her first cousin, Lemuel(3), and their daughter, Elizabeth(4) married my Edward
Walton. So, with Thelaball data, I have my proved
Mason connection through Elizabeth(2) whether or not I prove Lemuel(3) from
Mason data. To go back to Francis and Alice...where did you find proof of her surname,
Ganey? All I have found only says Alice
Mason. I can help you with proof that Lemuel(2) married Ann
Sewell. In Wlliam & Mary
Quarterly, Vol.4, No.1 (Jan., 1896) pg 173, there are notes about Henry
Seawell, d. 1644 & settlement of his estate in orphans court on 25 Feb.1649, there is a quote: "having mett concerning the Estate of Hen. Seawell, deceased, by the opinion of the cort and Consent of Jno
Holmes, overseer, and Mr Lemuel
Mason who hath intermaried with Anne the daughter of the said
Seawell...". So I'm convinced that has settled the question of Lemuel's wife. I enjoyed reading about your line. I just don't know why you got the interesting Masons and I got the problems! Thanks for your reply and if you can share any data about Alice or Lemuel(3) I'd really appreciate it.
