St. Mary's Female Academy was an orphanage that later became St. Mary's Infant Home. Many of the female "inmates" appear on the 1930 census of Norfolk, VA under the name of St. Mary's Female Academy. The records of the orphanage are still maintained by the church. My Father was an orphan there.
