Info from death certificate

Hi,
I was hoping that someone on this board goes to the Library of Virginia occasionally. I need to have someone look up on the birth index for my great grandmother. I have the info from her death certificate, but need the info from her birth record to go farther in my research. I needed to verify date & place of birth and both parents name and whatever other info is provided on the birth index.

I actually did make a one time trip to the library recently, but couldn't find anything in the jurisdiction where I thought she was born. It was only after I got home, that I learned that the library had a general birth index. I would greatly appreciate this and could provide a similar look up at the Maryland State archives if needed.
