I am looking for any clues concerning John Webb who moved from Nansemond Co. around 1790 to Edgecombe Co NC. He was born in Nansemond in 1761 and married Teresa Duke of Gates Co NC, but I beleive that she was a neighbor of his that just lived over the state line. He subsituted for several Duke boys in the Revolutionary War, that I think could have been her relatives,one was an Elisha Duke. Her father was John Duke and I am also seeking information on the Duke family. John Webb sold land in NC to a James Baker around 1807 who was from Nansemond also. It adjoined the homeplace of John Webb so he may some way be connected to the Bakers.
