A-Ref 1 on Charles Parish: pg 52: births of 4 children of William & Elizabeth Blackstone: Alice baptised March 30 1701; James born Dec 18 1698; Sarah baptised March 20 1693; William born April 12,1696. (Names were listed in order of spelling rather than in order of date.)
B-Ref 2 on Warwick Co has several entries:
p.89: 27 Jan1700 Thomas Blackston is sued by Thomas Chisman re: debt of 710 lbs tobacco due 19 Feb 1698 (tobacco was a common medium of exchange in lieu of actual money).
p.94-95: 21 Apr 1700 Thomas Blackston is sued Executors of estate of William Rostcow for 24 pounds Sterling per an obligation dated 4 Apr 1699. Another suit against Thomas Blackstone by John Hollier is dismissed because neither party appeared in court. Suit against Thomas Blackstone by Thomas Bowcher for 16 pounds current money obligated 24 Dec 1699 is dismissed neither part appearing.
p.97-98: 21 May 1700: Thomas Blackstone pleads guilty and ordered to pay the 24 pounds Sterling re suit of 21 Apr 1700. Thomas Blackstone & John Thurmer sign security bond re: probate of will of Elizabeth Bennett deceased & executor Moses Baker.
p.115: July 1702: "Thomas Blackston for 1 w" mentioned in the Grand Jury presentment (I don't know/understand what the "1 w" is about; several other persons were also named similarly and breaking the Sabbath fishing etc.)
p.122: 20 December 1702 court: Thomas Blackstone named to Jury. Mentioned again p.124.
p.206: 21 July 1705: Thomas Blackston defendant in a suit brought by plaintiff George Hyde for assault upon Mary Hyde the wife for 10 pounds Sterling; he pleads not guilty due to defense of his own life and goods; case goes to trial: "...we the Jury find for the plaintiff 6 pence damage and costs...". Thomas Blackston also has to pay Edward Rice and his wife for one day's attendance in court as witnesses. Thomas Blackston and Edward Rice also named as signing bond for security for Elizabeth Rowles widow of William Rowles dec'd to obtain Letters of Administration.
p.232: 1 Oct 1713 court: Thomas Blackston appointed with others to appraise estate of Hope Hatton dec'd.
p.257: 4 Nov 1713: Thomas Blackston presented by Grand Jury for swearing.
p.261: 6 Jan 1714: Thomas Blackston is appointed constable for the Lower Denbeigh Parish.
p.264: 3 Mar 1714: Thomas Blackston signs bond as security for widow of Peter Cade to obtain Letters of Administration.
p.573: February Court Docket 1701: Item 15, Thomas Blackson vs James Bowcher re a debt: "no such person to be found in ye County."
C. Ref 3 Elizabeth City Co wills & administrations: p.3: Argil Blaxton is a witness to will of Anthony Armistead's original will dated 29 Dec 1737 recorded 15 Feb 1737 (1738?). Later, re: the appraisal & settlement of estate: "Audited by John Brodie & others--John Brodie was an attorney & my 6th gr grandfather, married Martha Sclater. Do you have any Brodie connection by marriage with your Blackstone?
D. Ref 4 Early VA Immigrants: p.35:
..John or Jonathan Blackstone 1635 sponsored by McWilliam Stone unknown county location.
..Thomas Blackston 1642 sponsored by Cornelius deHull unknown county. (Note the sponsors obtained "headrights" for paying for their passage to America and entitled the sponsors to patent land in America.)
