Mrs. Sarah Anne Colyer, age 95, of Bonifay, passed away March 4, 2014 at her home.
She was born May 8, 1918 in Wise, Virginia.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William J. Colyer; her father, Elbert Culbertson; her mother, Eva Davis Culbertson; one sister, Macy Vincer; three brothers, Jim Culbertson, A.B. Culbertson, Benjamine Culbertson.
Mrs. Sarah graduated from J.J. Kelly High School. She was employed by Wise County School Board and worked several years in the Wise County Clerkâs office. On May 14, 1942 Sarah Anne Culbertson married William J. Colyer. She attended Baptist Church and was strong in her faith and had a deep devotion to God and family. She was loved by all who ever met her.
Mrs. Colyer is survived by two daughters, Bethel Anne Gates of Bonifay, and Leatha Legina Treece and husband Gary of American Fork, UT; one brother, Eddie Earl Culbertson and wife Ann of Wise, VA; seven grandchildren, Tony Colyer Treece, Freddie Ray Hubbard, Rockland Allen Gates, Gary Lee Hubbard and wife Joanna, Britney Amaris Treece, Joy Azelin Bratton and husband Tyrell, Ty Franklin Treece and wife Marissa; 14 great-grandchildren, William Mitchell Hubbard, Myranda McLendon, Mariah McLendon, Micah McLendon, Alley Stillwagon, Bradley White and wife Joy, Reva Eubanks and husband Jonathan, Lori Holland and husband Jimmy, Jonathan Hubbard, Corey A. Hubbard, Spencer A Bratton, Daniel G. Bratton, Faith Bratton, Eden Bratton; four great-great-grandchildren, Callie Holland, Caleb Holland, Kraygen Hubbard, Arawynn Stillwagon.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, March 7, at Peel Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jimmy Holland and speaker Micco Randy King officiating. Interment will follow in the Bonifay Cemetery with Peel Funeral Home directing. Family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Thursday at Peel Funeral Home Chapel.
Pallbearers will be Jarred Lee, Cody Williams, Chase Williams, Tillman Mears, Pete Floyd, Larmie Poppell.
