I am searching for my great-great Grandmother Bettie Compton. Family story she was Cherokee; however I have not been lucky. I know she had one child, a daughter, Florence. She was born in Gate City in 1878. The father on FLorence's death certificate is unknown. She married William Porter in 1898. My grandmothers worked for the Painter and Kelly family of Big Stone Gap. I have met two decendents of the Kelly's but neither had stories of Bettie. My grandmother Athenia Porter married Herbert Taylor, when she was about 16.
If anyone can give me a name of someone related to Bettie, outside of the Porters and Taylors I would be grateful.
