Thank you for the information. This line is so confusing. I found one lady who believes that George was the son of John and Nancy Nelson Powers. Part of her reason is because in the 1870 census, Nancy is in the home of her son in law and daughter and is said to be a widow. Same thing with Rachel, in the 1870 census she is in the home of her son and daughter in law and is said to be a widow,. But, if the follow the census you know that neither one married. But, that does not explain the record I found the other night, nor does it explain George's birth name being Bennett. And how can you explain the fact that no male descendant of George's can find a DNA match to the Powers family?
Every answer just brings more questions.
